Palma: Eurowings Europe is taking off again
The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings Europe will take off again on June 27, 2020 at 7:45 a.m. after a three-month flight break. The "first flight" will be on the Palma de Mallorca-Hanover route. Initially, the Spanish base will restart with two Airbus A320s. From there, destinations such as Berlin, Bremen, Dresden, Hanover, Leipzig, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Munich, Münster-Osnabrück, Nuremberg and Saarbrücken will be served. In Austria, Eurowings flies to Salzburg and Innsbruck. The number of aircraft that will be reactivated will be gradually increased. In addition to Palma de Mallorca, Eurowings Europe also has bases in Vienna and Pristina. The one in Vienna was de facto closed with the abandonment of numerous routes or the handover to sister company Austrian Airlines. It has not yet been communicated when Pristina and Salzburg will resume operations. It is also not yet clear what impact the termination of the wet lease, which was flown briefly for Austrian Airlines, will have on the Eurowings Europe staff stationed in Vienna. "We are delighted that Eurowings Europe can take off again," says Robert Jahn, Managing Director of Eurowings Europe. "I would like to thank our guests for their patience and understanding during this difficult phase. And I would especially like to thank our Eurowings Europe team, who have had to endure a lot of uncertainty and show perseverance in recent weeks. We are all the more pleased that we can now start again and be there for our holiday guests."
