Easyjet takes over 22 A320neo later

The low-cost airline Easyjet will take delivery of another 22 aircraft from the A320neo series later than originally planned. An agreement was reached with the manufacturer that these would be delivered in 2022 and 2024 instead of between 2027 and 2028. The deal is not cheap for Easyjet, as company boss Johan Lundgren had to agree to a price increase of 28 million euros. Airbus will also pass on the costs of any increases in material and personnel costs. In a media statement, the CEO of the orange budget airline said that this solution would enable Easyjet to be flexible in its fleet planning in these uncertain times.

Spain: Three Norwegian daughters apply for bankruptcy protection

Norwegian has now also filed for creditor protection proceedings for three Spanish subsidiaries. These are Norwegian Air Resources Spain, Red Handling Spain and Red Maintenance Spain. The staff deployed from Spain are employed by these companies. The first-mentioned group company is also the employer of the flying staff at various other bases. This has repeatedly been the subject of harsh criticism from unions in the past, as the low-cost airline was accused of combining loopholes in labor law. The owner of the three companies is Norwegian Air Shuttle. Norwegian Air Resources Shared Service Centre, the group's internal service center, is not affected by the bankruptcy filing. The carrier writes that the unions representing employees in the three companies were informed in advance of the measure. The group now has six months to negotiate with the creditors and submit a restructuring plan to the court. If no agreement is reached, the court could also declare the three companies bankrupt and order their liquidation.

People who have already entered the country and have previously been in Europe or other countries with a high infection rate must subsequently undergo a 14-day quarantine.

Aeroflot is testing “mask-free zones”

The Russian Skyteam member Aeroflot is currently considering setting up special zones on its aircraft for people who do not want to wear a mask. The reason for this is that mask refusers have become an increasingly bigger problem for the carrier. The idea is that, for example, the last two rows should be declared a mask-free zone. This area should also be available to people who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons. The exact implementation has not yet been decided, but the new zones are intended to minimize increasing problems above the clouds. In recent weeks, there have been repeated incidents during flights.
