The European aircraft manufacturer ATR was able to deliver 31 turboprop machines last year. At the same time, 35 new orders were landed. One is optimistic for the current year because one sees a recovery of the market.

In addition to the 31 newbuilds, ATR was also able to hand over ten overhauled used aircraft to customers. Deliveries went to operators on five continents. ATR executives also expressed optimism about the company's medium to long-term prospects. The cargo aircraft market is growing rapidly and ATR expects demand for 460 cargo aircraft over 20 years in the nine tonne aircraft category. The conversion of passenger aircraft to cargo aircraft also represents a significant part of the potential of this market: of the 10 used aircraft that ATR delivered in 2021, most are converted for cargo operations.

During the annual press conference hosted by ATR's new Customer Experience Studio, Executive Chairman Stefano Bortoli said: “We have seen a clear uptrend in 2021, with positive signs of a recovering market. This development is not only due to improved market conditions, but also to our response to the challenges posed by the pandemic. We have continued to invest in our product to offer our customers concrete solutions to enable them to operate their aircraft with the most sustainable business model. Our teams have taken a major leap forward towards sustainable regional aviation, delivering improved engine performance and leading the way to 100% sustainable use of aviation fuel. All of these advances are helping to make air services more accessible and affordable. This is the mindset and values of ATR: we are always committed to responsibly connecting people and businesses in all regions of the world. "
