After the Corona lull, North Rhine-Westphalia's airports are on the up again, but still a long way from the level of business before the pandemic.

Last year, around 7,5 million passengers departed from the six capital airports in NRW, a third more than in 2020, the state statistics office said on Tuesday in Düsseldorf. All in all, that was 1,9 million or 33,5 percent more passengers than a year earlier (2020: 5,6 million). In 2019 - i.e. before Corona - there were 21,7 million passengers, about three times as many as last year. The largest airport in NRW is Düsseldorf, followed by Cologne-Bonn, Dortmund, Münster/Osnabrück, Niederrhein (Weeze) and Paderborn/Lippstadt.
