Entering Baden-Württemberg vaccinated: These documents are recognized

The German state of Baden-Württemberg has allowed people who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus to enter the country without quarantine and testing since April 19, 2021. But how do you prove that you have been vaccinated? Which documents are accepted? However, quarantine-free entry for vaccinated people does not apply to people coming from all countries. A spokesperson for the state of Baden-Württemberg explains: "The exception under Section 2 Paragraph 2 No. 6 of the Corona Ordinance on Entry Quarantine of the State of Baden-Württemberg for people who can prove that they have been vaccinated for at least 14 days by means of vaccination documentation only applies to entries from "normal" risk areas and high-incidence areas. However, it does not apply to entries from virus variant areas." In concrete terms, this means that people who have previously been in a so-called virus variant area must continue to be quarantined and should therefore find out particularly carefully about the entry regulations of the state of Baden-Württemberg that apply at the time of the planned entry. Yellow WHO vaccination certificate must be presented When asked how vaccinated people can prove their immunization, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health of the State of Baden-Württemberg replied: "Vaccination confirmations are only internationally recognized in the WHO vaccination certificate. The validity and mutual recognition of the WHO certificate in international travel are regulated by the "International Health Regulations 2005, Articles 35 & 36". Proof of completed vaccination must, if required, be provided by means of vaccination documentation within the meaning of Section 22 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG). The presentation of a vaccination certificate or a vaccination certificate is permitted. The vaccination documentation must meet the requirements of Section 22 Paragraph 2 IfSG. Accordingly, vaccination documentation for each vaccination must contain the following information: date of vaccination, name and batch number

Now more than ever: Check the “small print” of travel insurance policies carefully!

Travel insurance may play a much larger role in this year's holiday season than before. After all, many passengers want to be covered in the event of a corona infection abroad, because outside the European Union, many countries do not accept the e-card (health insurance card) for direct billing. The fact that EU member states are currently overhauling travel rules and the level of information changes almost daily is also causing certain problems for insurance companies. Products must be adapted to the new circumstances. The specialist departments of the largest Austrian travel insurers are currently dealing with the question of "how". Industry prepares new products A spokeswoman for Uniqa Insurance explained in an interview with Aviation Direct that new products adapted to the new travel rules are expected to be available from the end of May 2021. The group is currently waiting to see what the exact details of the travel rules will be. The Uniqa communications employee also pointed out that travel health insurance for vacation can also be taken out immediately before departure, if necessary at the gate via smartphone. The key point is that the policy is purchased from Austria, according to the insurance company. Travel cancellation insurance is also important. This point could be problematic for vacationers, because older annual travel insurance policies do not yet know about the corona pandemic. But they do know about travel warnings of levels 5 and 6. Most cancellation policies can be applied if the Foreign Ministry assigns an area this level. But be careful: Before taking out a policy, be sure to read the small print, because some insurance companies exclude cover if a travel warning was already in place at the time of booking. To what extent

From 2023: Fraport will take over the helm at the security checks in Frankfurt

New partnership-based allocation of tasks for aviation security checks at Frankfurt Airport: Fraport will assume responsibility for management and implementation from 2023 - the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs will remain responsible for all aviation security-related issues. On January 1, 2023, the federal government will transfer responsibility for the organization, financing, management and implementation of aviation security checks at Frankfurt Airport to Fraport AG. The takeover is regulated in a contract between Fraport AG and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Home Affairs (BMI), which both sides recently signed. "We are aware of the responsibility that comes with taking over management of aviation security checks at Frankfurt Airport from 2023. This will enable us to best contribute our experience and expertise to the operational management of security checks in the interests of our passengers and the shortest possible waiting times," said Stefan Schulte, CEO of Fraport AG. In addition to organizing, managing and carrying out aviation security checks, from January 1, 2023, Fraport will also assume responsibility for procuring security equipment and calculating and collecting aviation security fees for airlines. The BMI will nevertheless remain the highest aviation security authority. "The Federal Police will of course remain responsible for all security-related issues and will set guidelines that we must adhere to. This ensures that safety remains the highest priority," says Pierre Dominique Prümm, Executive Board Member for Aviation and Infrastructure at Fraport AG. In concrete terms, this means that the staff of the commissioned security companies will carry out the checks on behalf of Fraport AG, but in accordance with federal guidelines and under the supervision of the Federal Police. The employees who are deployed must meet the official requirements and qualifications.

Q1: IAG is losing billions again

The British Airways parent company suffered another billion-euro loss in the first quarter. At just under 1,1 billion euros, however, the loss was around 37 percent lower than at the start of the pandemic a year earlier. In the first three months of the year, the group's airlines carried just 2,6 million passengers, 87 percent fewer than a year earlier, as the International Airlines Group announced on Friday. CEO Luis Gallego is therefore planning with great caution for the current year: Compared to the pre-crisis year of 2019, the IAG companies British Airways, Iberia, Vueling, Aer Lingus and Level are likely to offer only around a quarter of their flight capacity in the current second quarter. Like other airline bosses, Gallego is also counting on the success of the vaccination campaigns, international rules on corona tests for passengers and the opening of travel corridors between countries such as Great Britain and the USA. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the pandemic and the continuation of travel restrictions, the manager is still not daring to make a profit forecast for 2021.

Linz presents summer program

Especially in these extraordinary times, which are demanding a lot from us, many people are longing for a change of scenery, in short: a vacation! Those responsible at Linz Airport know this too. And are presenting the 2021 summer flight schedule. A total of 13 travel destinations are available for passengers to choose from. The Upper Austrian airport is particularly tackling the Greek islands, which make up almost half of the destinations. Larnaka in Cyprus is new this year. Of course, given the Covid-19 situation, it cannot be ruled out that one or two flight schedule adjustments may be made. However, it is believed that the testing strategy, the vaccinations, and the introduction of the "green pass" will make a significant contribution to normalizing air traffic again. "We are pleased that the tour operators have once again launched an extensive range of offers in Linz. It is gratifying that the organizers have already extended the season and destinations such as Crete/Heraklion, Rhodes and Mallorca will be served in October and thus also during the autumn holidays. In addition, with Larnaca we can offer our customers a new, very interesting destination,” says Norbert Draskovits, Managing Director of Linz Airport.

From May 19, 2021: These entry rules apply in Austria

From May 19, 2021, new rules for entry will apply in Austria. The compulsory quarantine that has been practiced up to now - apart from a few exceptions - will then largely be a thing of the past. The written version of the regulation from the ministry headed by Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) has not yet been published in the Federal Law Gazette. The responsible Ministry of Health explained to Aviation Direct that in future it will be based on the traffic light map of the European ECDC. This means that it depends on the color of the country you are coming from. If it is green and orange, everyone is allowed to enter freely. In concrete terms, this means that neither test nor vaccination proof will be required. If an area is red, proof of vaccination against Covid-19 is required when entering Austria. Alternatively, people who have recovered can present a corresponding certificate. Travelers who do not meet either of these options must present either a negative antigen or PCR test. The maximum period of validity must be observed. According to the current information, this should be limited to 48 hours for rapid tests and 72 hours for PCR. Regardless of this, under the conditions listed, no quarantine is required in Austria for those coming from "red areas". If the last place of residence is marked as "dark red" on the ECDC map, almost the same conditions apply as for "red". The big difference, however, is that a ten-day mandatory quarantine must still be undertaken regardless of vaccination, test or recovery status. Free testing is possible after the fifth day. This means that the current regulations will continue in the "dark red" category. Entry registration remains for the time being According to
