Cologne: Wizz Air announces Tirana

The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will fly twice a week between Tirana and Cologne/Bonn from August 1st. The new route will initially be served on Thursdays and Sundays. At the same time, the base in Albania will be expanded to five aircraft. From Tirana, Wizz Air will also start flying to Barcelona on July 31, 2021, which will be served on Thursdays and Saturdays. Constantin von Alvensleben, Chief Executive Officer of Tirana International Airport, said: "The fact that Wizz Air is stationing five aircraft in Tirana is a great vote of confidence in this airport and the result of several years of successful cooperation. This step offers Albania a new perspective by bringing the country closer to Europe. I am pleased to announce our commitment to continue our cooperation with Wizz Air for a substantial development that will support Albania's economic recovery after the pandemic and also offer our customers a wide range of affordable low-cost destinations." In total, Wizz Air offers 29 destinations from Tirana. "I am pleased to announce the stationing of a fifth aircraft in Tirana and the launch of two new routes to Barcelona and Cologne. Investor offers too little: Air Transat wants to go on alone

After the takeover of Air Transat by competitor Air Canada fell through, entrepreneur Pierre Karl Péladeau came forward as an interested buyer. But these talks have also fallen through, parent company Transat AT announced. In April 202, Péladeau offered five Canadian dollars per share through one of his companies, but the price rose sharply as demand picked up again, so that the offer is simply too low for existing shareholders. Austria's travel agencies welcome entry easing

IndiGo offers vaccinated people a 10 percent discount
