Tui increases special bond by 190 million euros

The travel group Tui is once again increasing a bond issued in April to financially bridge the Corona crisis. As the company announced on Monday evening, the volume of 400 million euros will be expanded to include new so-called convertible bonds with a nominal value of 190 million euros. Such securities can be exchanged for shares by the owner at a later date. The Hanover-based company explained that the conditions are the same as for the title brought to market in the spring. The proceeds will flow into ongoing refinancing. After business was largely canceled in the first Corona year of 2020, Tui is dependent on more money coming into its coffers through bookings - at the same time, the group is obtaining additional funds from investors. The actual use of the billion-dollar government loans is to be limited to what is necessary and the repayment of the tranches used from them is to be initiated. This is reported by the FAZ.

Vienna Airport welcomes regulation of the federal government to facilitate entry from third countries

The first impulses are already being felt through new and resumed flight connections from Saudia, EVA Air, Etihad and Air Canada. Vienna Airport supports the federal government's decision to relax entry regulations for travelers from third countries as of July 1, 2021. From this point on, fully vaccinated travelers from third countries (from 14 days after the second vaccination) will be allowed to enter Austria without quarantine. "This is an important and necessary step that will give the tourism and aviation industry a sigh of relief. The airlines are already reacting and expanding their flight offerings: Saudia, EVA Air, Etihad and Air Canada will resume connections to Vienna in July 2021. This will increase the number of medium and long-haul flights from Vienna. This will benefit regional and urban tourism throughout Austria in particular," says Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG. The new entry regulations create important conditions for the comeback of medium- and long-haul connections to Vienna: Austrian Airlines, Air China, Emirates, Ethiopian and Qatar Airways already operate medium- and long-haul connections from third countries to Vienna and benefit from the simplified entry regulations. Green Airlines is chartering almost 30 year old 737-300s from Bulgaria

Instead of using German Airways' Embraer 190, passengers of the charter company Green Airlines will be flown to holiday destinations using almost 30-year-old Boeing 737-300s from the Bulgarian airline ALK Airlines. The warm water destinations from Paderborn and Rostock-Laage are affected. German Airways is apparently not available as an operator for these flights. The charter flights to Sylt and from Groningen are not affected by this. German Airways did not want to comment on the matter when asked. According to a media statement from Green Airlines, the use of the Boeing 737-300 is only an interim solution up to and including July 8, 2021. Airbus A319s from the Romanian company Just Us Air will then be used. The German charter client describes it in a press release as an increase in capacity. The flight times are not to change. Since Green Airlines sells itself as particularly green, the question arises as to what extent almost 30-year-old Boeing 737 Classics, which are considered to be fuel-hungry, are supposed to be environmentally friendly. Just US Air: AOC and operating license are suspended The Romanian Just Us Air's AOC and operating license were suspended by the Romanian Aviation Authority on March 1, 2021. In concrete terms, this means that this company is not authorized to operate commercial passenger flights as of June 30, 2021. However, there is a possibility that Just Us Air will regain the certificates. This requires an application to the Civil Aviation Authority, which will then make the decision after appropriate examination. The full document from the Romanian Aviation Authority, from which the above extract was taken, is available for download at this link. Key

Dortmund builds new police headquarters

Dortmund Airport will build a new building for the Dortmund Police Headquarters on the site of the current P3 car park. The airport will act as the developer and the police will then move in as tenants. After a tendering process lasting almost two years, the airport was awarded the contract as the new landlord and developer. The new building is intended to relieve the spatial situation of the Dortmund Police on Markgrafenstrasse in the city center. "We are delighted that we have been awarded the contract after a long process and will in future be able to be the landlord of a building that we will build according to the wishes of the police. What convinced us in the tendering process was not only the extremely good infrastructural location, but also the ideas and concepts of our total contractor ZECH Bau SE," says Dietmar Krohne, Head of Facility Management and Project Manager at Dortmund Airport. "The turnkey construction of the police building is attractive to us above all because of the rental agreement with the Dortmund police over three decades." "We are grateful and proud that Dortmund Airport has expressed its trust in us after good and intensive contract negotiations and has commissioned us with the planning and construction of this special building under a total contract. In addition, we are delighted to be able to contribute and expand our expertise with regard to the special requirements of police buildings in this exciting task with our project partner, Nattler Architekten," explains Heinrich Schulze, branch manager of Zech Bau SE in Essen.

Brussels gets three Airbus A320neo

The Lufthansa subsidiary Brussels Airlines will add three Airbus A2023neo medium-haul jets to its fleet in 320. The Lufthansa Executive Board and the Supervisory Board of SN Airholding gave the green light for this on Tuesday. "Of course we are very pleased to welcome the Airbus A320neo to our fleet. The modern General Electric CFM engines of the Airbus A320neo are known for their fuel efficiency and lower noise contour. In addition, the three new aircraft will bring us closer to our goal of a fully harmonized A320 medium-haul fleet based purely on aircraft, thus further reducing not only the complexity of our maintenance and engineering activities, but also of the entire operation. Due to the high similarity with the current fleet, the crews will be able to operate the new aircraft after a short training period, which makes the integration seamless," said Brussels CEO Peter Gerber. Brussels Airlines currently has a total fleet of 38 aircraft, including eight long-haul Airbus A330s and 30 medium-haul aircraft (16 A320s and 14 A319s).

Air Europa takeover: EU Commission initiates in-depth examination

The original schedule was for the takeover of the Spanish airline Air Europa to be completed around mid-2021. Now the project is faltering because the EU Commission has raised concerns and is conducting an in-depth review. Iberia has already given up some slots, mainly in Madrid, to competitors such as Volotea and World2Fly. The aim was to appease the competition authority, but the measures taken so far are obviously not enough for the EU Commission. The Commission believes that the International Airlines Group will have a monopoly position on at least 70 connections. As a result, rising prices are expected due to the planned merger of Iberia and Air Europa. Brussels has now initiated an in-depth review procedure. This is to be completed by November 5, 2021. The EU Commission will then announce whether the deal will be waved through, approved subject to conditions, or even banned completely. It is completely unclear what impact a ban could have on Air Europa. The financial aid that Spain had provided through the sovereign wealth fund Sepi was also linked to the takeover by IAG.

Wizz Air as a football charter guest in Linz

The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air does not fly to Linz-Hörsching Airport on a scheduled basis. On Tuesday, the carrier was nevertheless visiting Upper Austria with the HA-LYK. A charter flight was carried out on behalf of the football club FC Cluj. Under the flight number W6 803, the Airbus A320 flew from Cluj to Linz on Tuesday afternoon. After a short stay, it returned to the Romanian city as W6 802. On board were athletes and officials from FC Cluj. Before the corona pandemic, charter flights operated by Wizz Air were very rare. The low-cost airline largely stayed out of this segment. In the middle of the crisis, the low-cost airline even began to advertise charters on the homepage of its website. According to management, orders are being accepted sporadically in order to be able to make better use of the fleet.
