Pobeda: Max-200 or A321neo instead of B737-Max-8

The Russian low-cost airline Pobeda has finally cancelled its Boeing 737 Max 8 order. According to the airline, it did not have to pay any contractual penalty to Boeing. At the same time, negotiations are underway with the Americans about the Max 200. Company boss Andrei Kalmykov confirmed that Pobeda was able to withdraw from the supply contract for the Boeing 737 Max 8 without paying a penalty. At the same time, negotiations are underway with Boeing about the special low-cost airline model Max 200. This has so far only been ordered by the Ryanair Group and VietJetAir. The manufacturer also has 40 units on its books, but no customer has been announced. Theoretically, it could be Pobeda, but there is no explanation or even confirmation of this. Boeing is by no means certain that the Aeroflot subsidiary will actually order the model, as Pobeda also has its eye on the Airbus A321neo. They are making no secret of this and are also negotiating with the European aircraft manufacturer. Russian models such as the MS-21 are being considered, but the low-cost carrier seems to be more likely to fly Boeing or Airbus.

Special stickers: Emirates celebrates 50 years of the UAE

To mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates, Gulf carrier Emirates is giving some Airbus A380s and Boeing 777-300ERs a special livery. The A6-EVG completed its "premiere flight" to Frankfurt am Main. Emirates has been connecting Germany with the United Arab Emirates for almost 35 years, and thus for a large part of the existence of the country on the Arabian Gulf. In the anniversary lettering, the airline's name is placed in such a way that it simultaneously completes the name of the country. Emirates carries the nation's flag and thus its ambitions, values and inspiring success story in every corner of its route network, thus underlining its affiliation with the UAE. Like Emirates' home and hub, the airline has also developed and established itself internationally in a relatively short time. The livery also celebrates the strength and resilience of the UAE's aviation industry, which connects the world and brings people, companies and economies closer together. : “The Golden Jubilee special livery aircraft are inspired by the vision, determination and passion of the UAE’s founding fathers and the journey they have taken over the past 50 years. They have shaped a nation that has captivated the world – from its rapid rise to become one of the world’s most connected countries to becoming one of the few nations to have launched a space mission. The next 50 years will be driven by the same ambition to create a better and sustainable future for humanity. The UAE will lead the way in developing its national capabilities, promoting

Condor objects to Eurowings Discover codeshares

The German holiday airline Condor has stepped up its long-running dispute with its former parent company and has lodged an objection with the US transportation authority DOT against the codeshare application for Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Swiss submitted by Eurowings Discover. Condor is of the opinion that the planned codeshare is intended to drive the airline away from routes between Germany and the United States of America. According to a report by CH-Aviation.com, the holiday airline has requested that the DOT "investigate alleged anti-competitive practices by Lufthansa against Condor". The airline is also requesting that the authority make the approval of the codeshares dependent on the continued granting of the special pro rate agreements between Lufthansa and Condor. In this way, Condor is trying to take another route to continue to be able to use Lufthansa flights as feeder flights for its own long-haul connections. The airline initially canceled these, but gave in temporarily due to an antitrust complaint. The problem has not been solved, but rather just postponed for a year. "EW Discover has applied for authorization letters for other airlines in the Lufthansa Group to place their codes on EW Discover's US flights. Such codesharing is within the scope of EW Discover's rights under the applicable Open Skies air transport agreements. EW Discover is therefore requesting immediate approval from the department so that it can begin the codesharing between the affiliated companies, which is the subject of its application," a spokesperson for Eurowings Discover told CH-Aviation.com.

Slovenia: From August 23, 2021, you will only be able to pass through with a 3G certificate

Around a month ago, Slovenia wanted to introduce 3G proof for mere transit. This was initially abandoned, but will be introduced on August 23, 2021. This means that only those who have recovered, been vaccinated or tested can travel through. The government announced the second attempt to abolish the transit exception for August 15, 2021, but postponed it to August 23, 2021. It was announced that from this date onwards "transit will definitely no longer be possible" without 3G proof. Only truck drivers and children or young people under the age of 3 will then be able to travel through the country without 15G proof. All other people must be able to present proof of testing, recovery or vaccination. For unvaccinated holidaymakers in Croatia, this means that a test must be taken on their return journey in Croatia. The claim that as an Austrian you can get tested within 24 hours at home is then no longer sufficient.

ETF Airways: 1 rabbit: 0

A Boeing 737-800 belonging to the Croatian start-up airline ETF Airways suffered engine failure in Bremen at the beginning of the month. The failure of the aircraft caused ETF Airways enormous costs. Since May 28, 2021, the Croatian airline ETF Airways has had its own AOC (HR-105) and has since added two Boeing 737-800s leased from AerCap to its fleet. With the "Enterprise" (9A-ABC) and the "Voyager" (9A-LAB), the airline offers various charter, ACMI and AOG ("Aircraft On Ground") flights. But now the airline itself has had an AOG on the 9A-LAB. As Simple Flying writes, on August 2, 2021, after landing in Bremen, a rabbit was sucked into one of the two CFM56-7B27 engines. The subsequent flight from Bremen to Pristina had to be cancelled due to the so-called FOD ("Foreign Object Damage"). Only after the engine had been repaired was the 9A-LAB able to resume operations on August 14, 2021. In the meantime, various third-party aircraft had to be rented - sometimes only on individual rotations. Aviation.direct has checked who flew for ETF Airways on a subcontract basis: ALK Airlines, MD-82 (LZ-DEO) Hi Fly, A321-200 (CS-TRJ) Privilege Style, B767-300ER (EC-LZO) Smartwings, B737-800 (OK-TVF & OK-TVH & OK-TSE) Trade Air, A319-100 (9A-BTJ) & A320-200 (9A-BTH) According to the airline, the annoying incident is likely to have resulted in costs of around one million euros (€500 for repair costs, €000 for leasing replacement aircraft, €400 for other costs). Simple Flying raises the question of the extent to which ETF Airways' liquidity has been affected by the failure and the

Green Airlines is now offering tickets with a fictitious IATA 2L code

The German ticket seller Green Airlines has completely revised its homepage and no longer refers to itself as an "airline". In its self-description, it now calls itself a "virtual airline". The "airline" button has been replaced by "virtual airline". Previously, it was very important to the company to be perceived as an airline on its own website, but it is not one because the company has neither an AOC nor an operating license. This is now pointed out in its self-description. "As a virtual airline, we work with partner airlines to operate flights. We provide the ticket sales area and take care of the technical background processes, as well as the implementation of our concepts. The actual air transport of the passengers is then carried out by third parties via ACMI," reads the Green Airlines website. However, the wording is somewhat unfortunate because as a pure sales company, it cannot take care of technical matters, as this would require a Part 145 approval as a maintenance company. Furthermore, a pure sales company is not able to use aircraft in the so-called ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance), because this would require AOC and operating license. Green Airlines charters aircraft, so the correct term would be "charter" or "charter flights". "Scheduled flights" on the homepage is also misleading, because these are charter flights. Passenger rights: The operating carrier is referred to in bold A look at the menu item Passenger rights shows that the company apparently also wants to use this to protect itself against customer demands for compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004. Recently, the following sentence can be read in bold: "The carrier is responsible for granting your rights.

Airlines fly wide around Afghanistan

Due to the rapid developments in Afghanistan, most airlines are avoiding flying over this country. Many carriers have security concerns due to the Taliban's takeover. The result is that detours have to be flown. This extends flight times, which leads to delays until the plans are adjusted. It is currently impossible to estimate how long the measure will last. Civil air traffic at Kabul Airport has been suspended due to the security situation. Countries such as Germany and the USA are currently trying to fly out their personnel and citizens using military aircraft. There were dramatic scenes at the airport, as many Afghans are trying to leave the country and hope to get a seat on a plane. There were so many people on site that the runway was temporarily blocked by crowds of people. While the United States "fills" its transport aircraft with people wherever possible up to the absolute maximum weight with which they can take off, a German Air Force Airbus A400 left Kabul Airport with only seven passengers on board. It is unclear how long Kabul Airport will be able to continue to be used. The security situation is being reassessed every minute.

Vida: Lauda Europe pilots should have their base salary cut

According to the union Vida, Lauda Europe, which operates at Vienna Airport, is to tighten the wage screw of its pilots. In future, they will receive an hourly wage of 40 euros (gross) per hour of flight actually completed. The basic salary is therefore to be abolished. The employee representatives refer to documents that were presented to them by affected pilots. The so-called basic income was calculated from at least 40 hours of flight at this hourly rate. This was contractually guaranteed. According to Vida, at least 1.600 euros gross per month should have been fixed. This is now to change, because in future they only want to pay for the actual flight time at 40 euros gross per hour. The union Vida expects that this will lead to a drop in income and, given the Corona situation, it could even happen that a salary is earned at all. In this context, it is important to recall the winter of 2020/21 and the temporary suspension of flight operations from March to the end of June 2021, then still known as Laudamotion. According to Vida, many of those affected "just want to get away." Those affected also report further harassment on the part of the company: "Standby" was apparently entered in the duty rosters during the lockdown, even though there were no flights on many days anyway, pilots report. This meant nothing other than having to sit near the airport all day, far from their families. With the new contracts, this situation is becoming even more serious, as these services are now being carried out without any basic remuneration. "Due to this harassment, around 80 pilots are sometimes on standby during lockdown times.

Prototype of the Illyushin Il-112V crashed

There are shocking images that can be seen from Russia today (August 17, 2021). The prototype of the new Russian military transport aircraft Il-112V crashed on a test flight near Moscow. The newly developed Illyushin Il-112V military transport aircraft was scheduled to carry out a test flight today. Video footage shows that one of the engines caught fire. During the subsequent right turn, the crew apparently lost control of the aircraft and crashed into a forest. According to various media, the two test pilots and an engineer were on board. It is reported that they did not survive the crash. Just a few days ago, UAC United Aircraft Corporation informed that the new light military transport aircraft Il-112V was transferred from Voronezh to Moscow's Zhukovsky Airport on August 13, 2021 to take part in the 7th International Military-Technical Forum "ARMY-2021" (August 22-28, 2021). The aircraft was piloted by chief pilot Nikolai Kuimov, test pilot Dmitry Komarov and test engineer Nikolai Khludeev. This same crew was probably on board today. UAC was very proud to be able to take part in ARMY-21 with the Il-112V. But unfortunately, due to the accident, this will not happen. It remains to be seen to what extent the crash will affect the event. The Il-112V is intended to replace the aging fleet of Antonov An-26s. It is about 24 meters long and has a wingspan of just under 28 meters. The maximum take-off weight (MTOW) is 21 tonnes. The aircraft is powered by two Klimov ТV7-117CT turboprop engines. The same engine is used on the Ilyushin Il-114 and also
