Influenza: Mückstein recommends vaccination before traveling to Croatia

The "classic flu" is causing increasing concern among politicians and doctors alike, as it is expected that the influenza wave in the coming winter could be severe. Health Minister Wolfang Mückstein (Greens) is now recommending that holidaymakers in Croatia should be vaccinated against influenza beforehand. The corona measures last winter meant that the classic flu wave was de facto canceled in Europe. However, this is also said to have led to there being hardly any antibodies in the population. Mückstein is therefore appealing for people to be vaccinated before traveling to Croatia. "Likewise, travelers returning from trips who show flu-like symptoms should undergo an influenza check-up by their family doctor in addition to a corona test," the Ministry of Health said in a press release. "Due to the effectiveness of the corona protective measures, there was no flu wave in Austria last winter. But that by no means means that the flu has disappeared. On the contrary: This year we are expecting a stronger influenza season and this virus can also lead to serious illnesses and deaths in particularly vulnerable groups. Therefore, the same applies to the flu: with a vaccination you not only protect yourself, but also others. Croatia is already experiencing an increase in H3N2 influenza cases. I therefore advise everyone who is planning a holiday in Croatia soon: take advantage of the offer of a flu vaccination now," explains Mückstein.

Easyjet made another billion-dollar loss

Low-cost airline Easyjet flew at 30 percent of 2021 capacity in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year ending September 58, 2019, carrying 17,3 million passengers. Demand was higher on intra-European and British domestic routes, while demand on international flights to and from Great Britain continued to be impacted by the British government's travel restrictions. Easyjet was able to generate around £40 million in operating liquidity in the fourth quarter. Net debt has decreased to around £0,9 billion. For comparison: At the end of the third quarter, this area reported two billion euros. The sharp decline is also the result of a capital increase of 1,2 billion euros. According to Easyjet, around 90 million euros of this was received after September 30, 2021. "It is clear that an economic recovery is underway. Business travelers are returning to Easyjet because companies and SMEs are convinced by our offering, our network and our sustainability concept. We have seen city breaks gradually return, while at the same time demand for holiday travel is increasing from customers seeking flights and holiday packages to popular winter sun destinations such as Egypt and Turkey. Bookings for the October holiday periods have been strong, particularly for the Canary Islands, where we have increased our capacity to approximately 140 percent of the 2019 financial year level,” explains Group CEO Johan Lundgren. Capacity in the first quarter of the 2022 financial year is now expected to be up to 70 percent of the 2019 level. While intra-European demand drove the economic recovery in the summer,

RKI classifies the Baltic States as a risk area

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has declared Estonia and Latvia, among others, as new high-risk areas. Lithuania has been on the RKI's high-risk list since last Sunday, and now Estonia and Latvia have been added. In Latvia, the seven-day incidence rate is over 440 and not even half of the population is fully vaccinated. The situation in Estonia is similar, as reisevor9.de reports. In addition to the Baltic countries, the RKI has designated Brunei Darussalam, Yemen and Ukraine as high-risk areas. This status is accompanied by a travel warning from the Federal Foreign Office. Unvaccinated returnees from these countries must therefore go into quarantine. At the same time, some areas have been excluded from the high-risk list. For example, the all-clear has been given for Tahiti and its islands, as well as the French Caribbean, which includes Guadeloupe, Martinique, St. Barthélemy and St. Martin. Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Colombia and the Norwegian provinces of Oslo and Viken were also removed from the list.

Air Berlin: Flöther sues Clearstream for 497,8 million euros

Air Berlin insolvency administrator Lucas Flöther has filed a lawsuit against Deutsche Börse subsidiary Clearstream for 497,8 million euros. According to the lawyer, Brexit made this company a personally liable partner. The former airline Air Berlin PLC & Co Luftverkehrs KG was organized as a limited partnership with a listed British stock corporation. Flöther takes the legal view that Brexit led to the PLC becoming a civil law partnership in Germany. The consequence of this is that the partners are personally liable. Clearstream explained to Handelsblatt that it had already examined this situation in detail before Brexit and does not believe that it has become a personally liable partner of Air Berlin. It will fight the lawsuit using legal means. The case will be heard before the Frankfurt am Main Regional Court.

Takeover offer: Zeitfracht wants to buy Rostock-Laage

The logistics group Zeitfracht has made a takeover offer for Rostock-Laage Airport and intends to buy it by the end of the year. According to Norddeutscher Rundfunk, the prospects of the public sector accepting the offer are very good. Rostock-Laage Airport has made horrendous losses in recent years, so politicians have repeatedly considered privatization. Managing Director Dörthe Hausmann told NDR that negotiations began in the summer of 2021 and that Zeitfracht had made a purchase offer. This will enable the airport to take a new strategic direction, according to the manager. The Zeitfracht Group recently caused a stir with the takeover of the insolvent Adler fashion chain. In aviation, the company is active with German Airways (formerly WDL), among others. It used to have a stake in Blue Air. The former Zeitfracht subsidiary Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter had to file for bankruptcy at the beginning of the corona pandemic.
