The low-cost airline Wizz Air has suffered a setback at Vienna-Schwechat Airport, as the highly announced destinations Amman and Aqaba will not be included for the time being. Most recently, these destinations were advertised in the single-digit euro range. The first flights were supposed to take place shortly before Christmas 2021. "Before Corona", Wizz Air was the only airline to offer non-stop flights between Vienna and Eilat (Israel), which is located right next to Aqaba. Possibly due to Israel's restrictive Corona entry rules, the decision was made this year to use the Jordanian airport, which is within sight of Eilat-Ramon Airport. However, neither the winter flights to the Bay of Aqaba nor to the Jordanian capital Amman will take place. Wizz Air decided at very short notice not to serve the two routes in this 2021/22 winter flight schedule period. All flights have been canceled or taken off sale. According to the current information, Wizz Air plans to offer the destination Amman from March 29, 2022 on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Vienna-Schwechat. For Aqaba, however, there is no new start date yet. If this route is still of interest to the carrier next winter, it may not be offered until the 2022/23 winter flight schedule. It also cannot be ruled out that flights to Eilat-Ramon could then be resumed. However, there is still a lot of time until then and further developments regarding Corona cannot be foreseen. Wizz Air suspends Rome service for longer The Wizz Air route between Vienna and Rome was also taken off sale at short notice. This was supposed to be reactivated in the next few days, but a short-term decision was made to hold it until March 1.
