Stuttgart Airport: New rules for the Kiss & Fly zone

From January 18, 2022, new rules will apply to access to the departure level directly in front of the terminals: Anyone who drives up there to drop off passengers can take a total of eight minutes to do so - previously only three minutes were allowed. The next five minutes will then cost five euros. Anyone who stops for up to 20 minutes pays 20 euros, and up to 30 minutes costs 30 euros. Right of way is regulated by automatic barriers. Cameras temporarily register the license plate number when entering and exiting. You can pay in cash or electronically at five machines along the terminal driveway. All you need to do is enter your license plate number. Anyone who stops for less than eight minutes can drive out directly and doesn't even have to go to the machine. If the camera fails, tickets can be taken when entering. Anyone who wants to take more time can still park for one hour free of charge in the nearby P0 car park. There are also other options for short-term parking in the P5 car park on the arrivals level or in the surrounding car parks P2, P3, P4, P6, P12 and P25. There you can park your car for a flat rate of 2,50 euros for 30 minutes. Alternatively, there are numerous public transport connections - in addition to the S-Bahn and various bus connections, the U6 light rail line has also recently started running to the airport. It is only a few steps from the new terminus to the terminal. The new regulation is intended to make traffic on the departures level safer, more disciplined and more fluid. The access directly in front of the terminal buildings is often

Ireland no longer requires vaccinated and convalescent CoV tests

Ireland is also making a small U-turn in its entry policy. According to this, fully vaccinated and recovered travelers no longer have to present an additional PCR test. As before, vaccinated or recovered travelers must present a valid digital Covid certificate or other acceptable proof of vaccination or previous infection when entering Ireland. In addition, a PCR test had to be presented upon entry. This requirement is now no longer applicable with this relaxation. "We are pleased that we can welcome travelers back to Ireland without fully vaccinated visitors having to be tested before departure," said Julie Wakley, Head of Tourism Ireland for the UK, commenting on the changes. This also means that travel between Great Britain and Ireland is possible without testing and quarantine, as About Travel reports. However, travelers who are not vaccinated or recovered must still present proof of a PCR test that was carried out no more than 72 hours before their arrival in Ireland. All visitors must also complete a passenger locator form. The country applies the 3G rule for entry requirements. This means that unvaccinated/non-recovered travelers do not have to fear quarantine if they can present a valid PCR test.

Graz Airport: almost 14 percent more passengers in 2021

Despite the ongoing corona pandemic and the associated lockdowns, Graz Airport was able to increase its results in all segments compared to the previous year. Despite Omikron, the desire to travel in the summer of last year means that we can look to the future with cautious optimism. The year 2021 has started very difficult worldwide and therefore also for Graz Airport. Europe was almost completely in lockdown, and in Austria travel regulations were only relaxed in the course of May. In the first 5 months of 2021, only just over 16.000 passengers were served. The first half of 2021 was therefore significantly lower than in 2020. "With the end of the lockdown and the start of the holiday season, we have visibly gained ground," says a delighted Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport. "In addition to Vienna, we were able to connect Graz to four other major transfer airports, namely Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich, as well as to the economic centers of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf, and offer a broad charter program." The renewed lock-down in late autumn 2021 slowed down the good development somewhat, but an increase of +226.562 percent was still achieved with 13,6 passengers. In the area of scheduled flights, the travel restrictions in winter and spring naturally had a greater impact, which is why passenger numbers were 7,2 percent (-13.322 passengers) lower than in 2020. However, this minus was more than made up for with an increase of 272 percent (+40.374 passengers) in the charter sector. In terms of movements, a minus of -8 percent (-279 movements) was recorded in the area of scheduled flights. The increase of 178,2 percent (+948 movements)

Italy: 2G on buses, trains, planes and almost everywhere

Since Monday, the 2G rule has largely applied within Italy. This also includes local and long-distance public transport, including flights and ferry connections. These may only be used by vaccinated and recovered people. However, there is an exception in aviation that was negotiated shortly before it came into force: residents of islands and other remote regions are allowed to use flights and ship connections even with a negative corona test. This is also a response to the fact that access to vaccinations is complicated, especially on smaller islands, and many residents on the mainland or a larger island have to be vaccinated. For everyone else, including holidaymakers and business travelers, the 2G rule applies, regardless of whether they travel by bus, train, subway or want to take a domestic flight within Italy. The airlines have been instructed by the authorities to check EU certificates or other approved proof of vaccination or recovery before boarding at the latest. The minimum and maximum time limits must also be observed. Since Monday, 2G proof has also been required for restaurants, ski lifts, hotels, conference centers and similar establishments. EU certificates issued in Italy as well as those from other EU countries and third countries with which an agreement exists are recognized. The checks are to be carried out by the staff of the respective company, with the executive monitoring compliance on a random basis.
