Air Astana is expanding the range of flights from Germany

Next summer, Air Astana will connect Germany non-stop with Kazakhstan up to ten times a week. With the start of the summer flight schedule on March 27, 2022, the airline is increasing the number of its flights between Frankfurt and the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan from four to initially five connections per week. From May 12, 2022, Kazakhstan's national airline will serve this route six times a week and from May 31, 2022 even daily. At the same time, the flight times on this route will change: Flight KC922 from Frankfurt departs in the evening at 19:55 p.m. and reaches its destination the next morning at 5:35 a.m. local time. On the way back, KC921 departs Nur-Sultan at 16:10 p.m. and lands in the Main metropolis at 18:30 p.m. on the same day. An Airbus A321LR with a two-class configuration including 16 flatbed seats in business class will be used. In addition to the flights to Nur-Sultan, Air Astana will continue to serve the city of Uralsk, also known as Oral, in northwest Kazakhstan with one flight per week (every Wednesday) in the summer flight schedule. The carrier is moving the weekly flights to Atyrau on the Caspian Sea from Frankfurt to Amsterdam "for logistical reasons" at the start of the 2022 summer flight schedule. After the pandemic-related suspension in the past two years, Air Astana will also resume seasonal service between Hanover and Kostanai in northern Kazakhstan in the summer months. The flights will depart every Saturday between May 14 and September 4, 2022, and also every Sunday from June 4, 2022.

AUA: Booking trend continues

The Austrian Airlines 27 summer flight schedule will come into effect on March 2022. The latest bookings mean that the Lufthansa subsidiary is optimistic about the coming months: within the last fourteen days, the hub carrier in Vienna has currently recorded over 600.000 new bookings. The positive booking trend of the past few weeks is thus continuing and underlines once again that Austrian Airlines is the trusted travel companion that domestic travelers rely on. "We are and will remain Austria's number 1. The booking figures prove that our offer is right," says Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl with conviction. Already in the summer of last year and also in the 2021/22 winter season, it became clear that the desire to travel is great. The Austrian team therefore reacted to this at an early stage and put together a comprehensive summer flight schedule that offers around 20 percent more options to European holiday destinations in the summer than before the corona pandemic. Austrian is therefore back on the road with its entire fleet. In the upcoming Easter holidays, long-haul destinations such as the Maldives, Mauritius, Bangkok or Cancún, as well as sunny destinations in Europe such as Mallorca, Sicily or Cyprus are particularly popular. For city trips in spring, Tel Aviv, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin are at the top of the list of the most popular travel destinations. "While other providers are increasingly withdrawing from Vienna, Austrian Airlines has massively increased its route portfolio in order to strengthen its role as Austria's home airline and the hub function of the Vienna hub," the carrier said in a press release. It is clear to whom these sentences are addressed: Wizz Air has indeed removed many destinations from the

Berlin wants to provide first aid to Ukraine refugees in the former Tegel Airport

The city of Berlin wants to use the former Berlin-Tegel airport as an initial reception center for refugees from the war zone in Ukraine. Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) explained, among other things, that the previous arrival center in Reinickendorf is already completely overloaded. After the closure of Otto Liliental Airport, Terminal C was temporarily used as a vaccination center. Now the remaining buildings are to be used temporarily for emergency accommodation for people who have fled from Ukraine. Beds are to be set up for this purpose. Permanent use as a "refugee home" is expressly not planned. The people who have fled from Ukraine are to be accommodated here only for a few days and then placed in permanent accommodation. Giffey expects that around 13.000 refugees from the war zone will continue to arrive in the German capital. Therefore, the former terminals of Tegel Airport are needed as an initial reception center and as emergency accommodation. It is currently not clear when the facility will be put into operation, but given the large number of people who have to seek protection abroad due to the Russian Federation's military attack on Ukraine, this should only be a matter of a few days.

Air France Hop sells 14 CRJ-1000s to the United States

The Air France subsidiary Hop has sold a total of 14 Bombardier CRJ-1000 regional jets. These were purchased from the US company Jetcraft Commercial and are to be handed over in the course of this year. Hop is thus initiating the decommissioning of this model. The first CRJ-1000 is to be handed over to the buyer in March 2022. The last unit included in this transaction will be handed over to the used aircraft dealer in December 2022. According to its own information, Jetcraft Commercial has already found new users for three aircraft. There is also great demand for the eleven other regional jets, especially in the United States of America. The model is considered to be ideally suited for regional use.

February 2022: Boeing delivered 22 commercial aircraft

In February 2022, the US aircraft manufacturer was able to deliver a total of 22 aircraft. At the same time, 37 orders were recorded, 32 of which were for the Boeing 737 Max model. The number of deliveries marks a new low for Boeing, as the last time so few aircraft were handed over to customers was in August of the previous year. This is also due to the fact that the long-haul 787 model cannot be delivered. It is therefore not surprising that the lion's share of the aircraft that left the factory in February 2022 were for the B737 Max. Of the 37 new orders that Boeing was able to land in February 2022, 32 were for the Boeing 737 Max. A customer who wishes to remain anonymous for the time being ordered five B777Fs. Cancellations were also received: For example, Air Lease no longer wants four B787s. In return, however, 18 Boeing 737 Max aircraft were ordered.

Germany: Flixtrain is increasing the offer again

The private railway company Flixtrain is increasing its service within Germany again with effect from April 11, 2022. On those routes that are already served, the number of available seats is being increased. At the same time, train services between Munich and Cologne, Frankfurt/Main and Cologne, and Dresden and Berlin are being resumed. Due to the corona pandemic, Flixtrain had temporarily stopped operations completely. So far, not all routes have been reactivated, although on those that are already in operation, the frequencies are significantly lower - in direct comparison with the pre-crisis period. This is set to change from April 11, 2022, as more sets are to be operated again. As a result, the DB challenger will have more seats for sale again. Train services are to be reactivated on the routes mentioned in the previous paragraph. Flixtrain is using the time of standstill to reactivate the wagons. For various reasons, the operating railway company has also changed on some routes.

LEJ invests 2,5 million euros in noise protection

Leipzig/Halle Airport is making further efforts to reduce ground noise emissions for its residents. Modernization of the engine test hall at the airport began on Monday. The aim of the renovation is to significantly increase the availability of the noise protection facility that was put into operation in 2008, as it cannot be used in unfavorable wind conditions. To do this, the flow conditions in the hall, which are necessary for trouble-free test runs of the engines, must be improved. The construction project is scheduled to take eight months and will cost 2,5 million euros. Several cargo airlines are based at the airport and maintain maintenance bases for their aircraft fleets. Between 250 and 290 engine tests are required each year as part of aircraft maintenance. To date, around 80 percent of the necessary test runs have been carried out in the engine test hall. The remaining tests had to be carried out outdoors during the day for technical reasons. Outdoor test runs are not possible at night. The hall will not be available for test runs during the renovation. Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG therefore applied to the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA) for an exemption for the engine test runs outdoors. As the highest Saxon aviation authority, the SMWA approved this application under strict conditions. This is to ensure that this investment in noise protection can be made while maintaining airport operations and that the impact on the surrounding area is kept to a minimum. In coordination with the SMWA and the aircraft noise protection officer, engine test runs at night between 22 p.m. and 00 a.m. are limited to a maximum of five tests per month. These exemptions must be applied for individually by the airlines in justified cases. The criteria for approval include unforeseeable

Bali allows vaccinated people to enter without quarantine

People who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 at least twice can now enter the Indonesian island of Bali without quarantine. The government has brought forward this step, which was originally announced for March 14, 2022. However, holidaymakers cannot avoid having to undergo two PCR tests. The first must be carried out on the day of entry and the second on the third day. However, there is no need to isolate yourself. At the entry control, in addition to proof of vaccination, a reservation confirmation from a hotel or, alternatively, the corresponding voucher from a tour operator must be presented. According to the official government statement, proof of a booster vaccination is not necessary. Two jabs are sufficient as things currently stand. Holidaymakers from a total of 23 countries can benefit from the new regulation. It should also be noted that a visa may be required under certain circumstances. This is issued upon entry and costs the equivalent of around 32 euros.

Etihad Airways is launching more destinations in Europe

Gulf carrier Etihad Airways will fly from Abu Dhabi to Nice and Malaga from June 15, 2022. The current plan is for the two new destinations to be served twice a week. However, these are not non-stop flights. Similar to the Abu Dhabi flights offered from Vienna-Schwechat, there is a stopover in one direction. From the United Arab Emirates, there will be a stopover in Rome-FCO on the way to Nice. In the opposite direction, however, the flights are non-stop. The Malaga flights from Abu Dhabi will first stop in Madrid. From Malaga, there are then non-stop flights to Abu Dhabi. The current plan is for long-haul Boeing 787 aircraft to be used on both routes. Other routes that Etihad Airways will be offering in the 2022 summer flight schedule are: Heraklion, from June 15, 2022 with Airbus A320; Santorini, from June 16, 2022 with A320 and Zanzibar, from June 17, 2022 with A320. With the exception of Crete (twice a week), three rotations per week are currently planned.

Oman waives the additional PCR test for vaccinated people

Since March 1, 2022, Oman has applied simplified entry regulations. People who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 benefit from these, as they no longer have to present a negative PCR test. The prerequisite for this is that the last necessary vaccination dose was administered at least 14 days before crossing the border. The regulations for unvaccinated travelers have not changed. There is also an exception for minors: people under the age of 18 still do not need a negative PCR test when entering the country - regardless of their vaccination status. Adults are only spared this if they can prove that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
