Germany: Cologne/Bonn wants to give up its readiness to fly

In the future, the German Air Force's air force will operate entirely from Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. The Cologne/Bonn location is to be merged with the one in the capital "in the medium term". A spokesperson for the German Ministry of Defense confirmed a corresponding report in the Kölner Stadtanzeiger newspaper upon request. The concentration on one location has been the aim for some time, but the original plan was to keep some operational tasks in Cologne/Bonn. Now the plans have changed in that everything is to be coordinated from BER in the medium term. At the moment, however, it is still completely unclear when the move from Cologne/Bonn to Berlin will take place. The necessary space and the required infrastructure are not yet available at the capital's airport. Until this is the case, there will continue to be ferry flights from Cologne/Bonn to BER and back. These have repeatedly caused criticism from the camp of so-called climate protectors, especially in view of the climate debate.

KV degree in the hotel and hospitality industry: 3,7 percent increase in wages and salaries

The social partners, the unions Vida and GPA and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), were able to agree on a collective agreement in the hotel and catering industry. From May 1, 2022, employees will receive an average of 3,7 percent more wages and salary. "The employees have more than earned this increase in income after two very challenging years full of existential fears," say a delighted Berend Tusch, head of the tourism department in the vida union, and Andreas Laaber from the GPA union. The new minimum wage for unskilled workers will be 1 euros from May 1.629 and 1.700 euros for skilled workers in the first two years of their career. Since the last collective agreement came into force three years ago, the increase in income for a fully trained chef, for example, has been 100 euros, Tusch continues. From May 1, apprentices' salaries will be 815 euros in the first year of training, 925 euros in the second, 1.055 euros in the third and 1.145 euros in the fourth year. The collective agreement for workers and employees in the hotel and hospitality industry for 2021 and 2022, which was already agreed last year, provided for an increase in minimum wages and salaries by an average of 1.5.2022 percent from May 2,35, 2021. However, the current inflation trend was not foreseeable during the negotiations in the first half of 1.5.2022. "Despite the extremely difficult times for the industry due to the pandemic, we also bear responsibility for our employees and have once again noticeably increased the wage and salary increases already agreed from May XNUMX, XNUMX," commented Susanne Kraus-Winkler and Mario Pulker, chief negotiators of the hospitality industry associations in the WKÖ, on the outcome of the negotiations. Both sides underline the constructive climate of discussion

Easter: ÖAMTC provides information on current travel regulations

The recent relaxation of entry regulations in many popular holiday destinations for Austrians is awakening the desire to travel just in time for the start of the Easter holidays. Many no longer want to wait for summer and are using the holidays to vacation at home and abroad. "Even if some countries are currently relaxing their entry rules, proof of vaccination, recovery or test is still an important companion when traveling in Europe. The proof is sometimes still required for entry, sometimes also to show in restaurants or museums and at the latest for the return trip to Austria," explains ÖAMTC tourism expert Magdalena Draxler. Entry into Austria's neighboring countries There are no longer any entry restrictions in Austria's neighboring countries Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. Entry into these countries is therefore possible without proof or registration. However, there are still - albeit relaxed - measures in place in these countries to protect against the coronavirus. The most important is the FFP2 mask requirement, which in some countries, such as Slovenia or Slovakia, still applies on public transport or in publicly accessible buildings. When entering Germany, proof of 3G is still required, and in Italy, too, registration is required. The local corona measures can not only change quickly, but also differ within a country. "In order to avoid unpleasant surprises when visiting a restaurant or museum, you should therefore find out about the respective measures before you travel," advises the ÖAMTC expert. Entry to Croatia without restrictions from tomorrow Just in time for the Easter holidays, Croatia is lifting almost all entry restrictions. From tomorrow, travelers from EU countries can again enter the country without 3G proof.

Klaudia Tanner: Eurofighter sale not off the table

After Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner made a clear commitment to the Eurofighters last week and said that the Austrian interceptors "must of course be upgraded," she has now backtracked in an ATV interview. An offer to sell the Eurofighters to Indonesia is still on the table and there has not yet been a rejection: "We have not yet had a rejection. So we had to get information at the same time and see where there are options. Because there must never be a gap in the area of airspace surveillance. And of course we then looked at other options." They are currently looking at other providers, says Tanner. It is not primarily a question of type. The Eurofighter is a system that works. With a view to a possible sale, however, they are looking at more cost-effective variants: "I would not name a company here, but that was something that our experts were commissioned to do as soon as the first inquiries came from Indonesia." The aim is to ensure airspace surveillance. Tanner also advocates for the Lord's annual budget to be anchored in law, following the Swiss model: "I believe that the opportunity now is an absolutely good one, the timing is absolutely right." Anchoring it in law creates planning security, even across legislative periods, argues Tanner.

Munich Airport continues to recover in the first quarter

Even though the traffic balance for the first quarter of 2022 at Munich Airport is still heavily influenced by the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, the first three months of the new year show a clear upward trend compared to 2021. Over four million travelers were counted from January to March. That is seven times as many passengers as in the same period last year, the airport announced in a press release. In the first quarter of 2021, only 570.000 passengers used Munich Airport for a flight due to the massive restrictions on international travel. With the current passenger volume, Munich Airport is reaching around 40 percent of the record volume from the pre-crisis year of 2019. The sharp increase in passenger numbers is accompanied by a significant expansion of the flight offer: while only just over 2021 flight movements were registered in the first quarter of 14.000, there were already over 50.000 take-offs and landings in the first three months of this year. Cargo handling is also showing a clear upward trend: with a total volume of over 64.000 tons, the quarterly result for air freight and airmail has almost doubled. With the resumption of numerous connections, a further revival of air traffic in Munich is emerging in the summer flight schedule period that has now begun. While around 100 destinations were accessible from Munich last year, this summer there will be up to 200 destinations.
