Italy abolishes entry forms – and extends CoV travel restrictions

As of May 1, Italy abolished the requirement to fill out the digital Passenger Locator Form before entering the country. However, the 3G entry regulations have been extended. The digital entry declaration was previously a requirement for all travelers to Italy for over a year as part of the Corona rules. From now on, the southern European country only requires proof of vaccination, recovery or negative test to cross the border; children under the age of six are exempt from the proof requirement. Anyone who cannot comply with the 3G rule must go into quarantine for five days, inform the health authority of the holiday region and have a Corona test carried out at the end of the isolation. This is reported by Check 24. Austria's southern neighbor has not loosened all the screws, quite the opposite: the current rules for entry have been extended for the time being until May 31, 2022.

Air traffic at Zurich Airport received a significant boost in April. Last month, 17.328 flight movements were registered. That is three times as many as in April 2021, reports the Swiss travel portal About Travel. Nevertheless, the number of flight movements is still around a quarter below the pre-crisis levels. In April 2019, for example, the airport had 22.705 movements. However, the trend in recent months is clearly upward, with air traffic increasing significantly in the last two months and the Easter period in particular. In the comparable period in 2020, air traffic had almost come to a standstill due to the first corona wave, with around 1550 flight movements.

In contrast to the flight connection between Graz and Stuttgart, according to Eurowings, those from Graz and Linz to Düsseldorf are a done deal. The company points out in a statement that the latter routes will continue. Demand between Graz and Stuttgart has obviously not developed as Eurowings had hoped. The Lufthansa subsidiary does not want to talk about a complete discontinuation yet and explains that it will take a "short break until the end of October 2022". A spokeswoman said: "According to current plans, the Düsseldorf-Linz and Düsseldorf-Graz connections are still in the program. We will resume the Stuttgart-Graz route for the winter flight schedule after a short break at the end of October. Eurowings continuously monitors the development of passenger volumes and the associated demand in order to adjust capacities and connections accordingly."

Comment: A maskless Friday in Vienna, because “Karl Lauterbach has abolished masks”

It is a typical Friday afternoon at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. Numerous holidaymakers are waiting at the gates for their weekend vacation, business travelers for their flights home. Almost without exception, the passengers are wearing masks, although not all of them are wearing the FFP2 masks prescribed by the Austrian government. But then the travelers disembark from a plane coming from Cologne/Bonn via a gangway. The "mask picture" changes suddenly, because the vast majority of passengers coming from Germany remove their mouth and nose protection immediately after leaving the jetway. Only a few had worn the FFP2 mask prescribed by Austria, and even if they did: It felt like 90 percent had removed the obviously unpleasant part from their faces. The result is astonished looks from the departing passengers waiting to board. Of course, a young lady took the initiative and loudly pointed out to the travelers coming from Cologne/Bonn that FFP2 masks are mandatory here at the airport in Vienna. Only a very few people did this result in putting their surgical mask back on (almost no one had an FFP2). The vast majority ignored the advice and continued on their way to baggage claim without a mask. Police officers who were on a routine patrol were also not interested in the Cologne passengers without masks. One man, however, felt he had to lecture the young lady. Masks are now only required on airplanes, not in terminals. Karl Lauterbach had abolished this. He was German and the German regulations applied to him. A heated discussion developed about the fact that Austria is an independent country and that one should
