VIE: Already performed over 300.000 antigen and PCR tests in the health center

In May 2020, the first months of the CoV-19 pandemic in Austria, Vienna Airport launched one of the world's first test stations at an airport. Over 300.000 antigen and PCR tests have been carried out since then, in some cases over 1500 tests per day. At peak times in 2020, this corresponded to around 10 percent of the Austria-wide test volume. The service is still available: the test station is open seven days a week. The PCR test result is available within a few hours and on the same day, according to the airport. The antigen test result would even be available after just 30 minutes. The tests are carried out in the Health Center in Office Park 3 at Vienna Airport; registration is not required. The test service is available from Monday to Sunday, from 7.00 a.m. to 14.00 p.m. The PCR test costs € 69 for adults and only € 18 for children and young people up to 49 years of age. The price for antigen tests is €25 for adults and €15 for children/young people up to 18 years of age.

Almost two million passengers in April at BER

The number of passengers at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport rose significantly in Berlin and Brandenburg last month. A total of 1,8 million people used Terminals 1 and 2 of BER in April. That was 500.000 more passengers than in March 2022 and 1,5 million more than in the pandemic month of April 2021. In April of the pre-Corona year of 2019, 3,1 million people traveled via the then Tegel and Schönefeld airports. This means that a total of 4,8 million people took off or landed at BER Airport in the first four months of this year. That is four million passengers more than in the first four months of 2021. “With almost five million passengers, we have already reached half of the previous year's level in the first four months of this year. This makes us optimistic about the further development of air traffic this year. The Easter holidays in particular showed that BER Airport is prepared for an increase in flight operations. We continue to work hard with our partners to ensure that our passengers continue to experience the smoothest possible operations," said Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. Last month, 14.600 aircraft took off and landed at BER, 2.100 more than in March. In April 2021, there were 4.800 takeoffs and landings. In 2019, 24.600 flight movements were registered at Tegel and Schönefeld.
