Royal New Zealand Air Force visiting Luqa

On Tuesday, the Maltese airport in Luqa had an unusual military visitor. A C-130H Hercules of the Royal New Zealand Air Force made a stopover at Malta International Airport. On Wednesday, the military aircraft left the airport again via runway 31. The aircraft is currently operated by 40 Squadron RNZAF and flies from Brize Norton in Great Britain. According to reports, unspecified aid supplies for Ukraine were on board.

Ex-Iberia-A330 converted into military aircraft at Safi Aviation Park

On April 19, 2022, an Airbus A330-202 in Iberia's colors was flown in under the registration EC-MJT. It was extensively converted at Aviation Cosmetics in the Safi Aviation Park, which is located on the grounds of the Maltese Luqa Airport. The long-haul aircraft left the hangar on Thursday and now bears the military registration T.24-02/10274. This Airbus A330-202 is now operated by the Spanish Air Force (Ejercito del Aire). The aircraft will soon be flown out to a military base in Spain. The long-haul aircraft, which bears the serial number 1710, completed its entire life as a civil airliner with the IAG subsidiary Iberia. It was only delivered in 2016, so the current T.24-02/10274 is still very young. This Airbus A330 was officially phased out by Iberia in March 2022.
