With Boeing 737 Max 10: Qatar Airways launches subsidiary

Gulf carrier Qatar Airways intends to launch a subsidiary that will operate the Boeing 737 Max 10 aircraft. It is still unclear what direction this will take. After the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus canceled a large order for A321neo, Qatar Airways signed a letter of intent to purchase 25 Boeing 737 Max 10s as a precautionary measure. This has not yet been converted into a firm order. Company boss Akbar Al Baker has now explained to Gulf News that this aircraft type will not be registered on Qatar Airways' AOC. He said that it will be used by a subsidiary. The manager did not provide any further details, so there is speculation that a low-cost airline could be launched. However, the company will neither confirm nor deny this.
