This was reported by the German online portal Aero. The company had previously expected an increase of eleven percent. The margin is now expected to be 10,5 percent instead of the previous 10 percent. The reason for the slightly better outlook is strong demand during the holiday season and business is also going well in September.

Seadream abolishes compulsory vaccination and testing

Seadream, a luxury cruise operator, no longer requires proof of vaccination when boarding. It is also no longer necessary to show a negative test result. However, it may still be necessary for shore leave due to local regulations. The shipping company is of the opinion that by abolishing the vaccination and testing requirement, travel can be made easier and more comfortable again. The cruises carried out with the yacht mainly take place in the Mediterranean and around the Caribbean. The company says that the Seadream crew will continue to be fully vaccinated or have had their vaccinations updated. Certain Covid-19 protection protocols will continue to be maintained within the crew. The principles of the Cruise Lines International Association are followed. With regard to shore leave, the shipping company recommends that travelers find out in advance whether proof of vaccination or testing is required for individual countries. This is currently almost nowhere required in the Mediterranean, which may also have influenced the provider's decision.

Coaches: Significant declines in sales due to the nine-euro ticket

According to the Federal Association of German Bus Companies, the German nine-euro ticket had the side effect that significantly fewer charter buses were used. The BDO conducted a survey among its members, which showed that significantly less use was made of coaches, especially for school and senior citizen trips. The German federal government offered a special ticket for nine euros per month in the calendar months of June, July and August 2022. This entitled holders to unlimited use of all local transport services throughout Germany. The nine-euro ticket led to overcrowded regional trains and is still controversial. There is no immediate follow-up offer. The BDO survey results suggest that more scheduled services were used for excursions by schoolchildren and pensioners. Clubs are also said to have booked fewer trips. This suggests that more people were switching to scheduled services included in the nine-euro ticket. In many cases, this could have been cheaper than a charter bus. Due to the sometimes considerable overcrowding of regular buses and regional trains, it is questionable whether the travel groups were able to use all connections as originally planned. This is not apparent from the survey by the bus association. The trains were sometimes so overcrowded that every square millimetre was used. Even the toilets had to be used as makeshift standing places. It was not uncommon for no further passengers to be allowed to board due to acute overcrowding. Successor could cost up to 69 euros per month Previous analyses have shown that the nine-euro ticket has missed the original plan. The federal government actually wanted to relieve commuters on their way to work. Due to the fact that the majority of

Water Shortage: National Airlines flies potable water to Jackson

The US airline National Airlines has flown large quantities of drinking water to Jackson (Mississippi) in recent days. Due to flooding, the city's tap water has been unusable for several days. The carrier used an Airbus A330, the cargo hold of which was filled with water bottles, to bring the aid shipment to Jackson. This was not a special flight, as the drinking water was taken on a regular charter flight. The bottles are to be distributed to the approximately 150.000 residents. "National has always been a leader in transporting emergency relief materials to crisis regions. Whether it is medical supplies for COVID-19 or essential goods in the event of natural disasters, National Airlines aircraft bring the relief supplies to the hardest hit areas and distribute them in a timely manner. The recent efforts to bring drinking water to Jackson are another opportunity for us to help people when they are in great need," said Christopher Alf, CEO of National Air Cargo Holdings. For about eleven days, there has been very little pure drinking water in Jackson due to flooding. According to the city's utility company, the rain has meant that the water treatment plant is no longer able to treat the amount of water needed for the 150.000 residents. It is currently not possible to predict how long the local waterworks will need to restore the usual quality.

Feeder flights for Condor: Lufthansa is suing against the decision of the Federal Cartel Office

The Kranich Group is not going to accept the decision of the German Federal Cartel Office that Lufthansa must grant competitor Condor access to feeder flights. It is suing against the competition authority's decision. This means that the ongoing dispute between the two companies is entering the next round. Lufthansa had terminated Condor's access to feeder flights. The holiday airline fought back and, among other things, filed a complaint with the Federal Cartel Office. Kranich then extended the Special Pro Rate Agreement, but only for a limited period. The German competition authorities have decided that Lufthansa must not only grant competitor Condor access to feeder flights, but also ordered that additional fare classes must be opened up for the holiday airline. Lufthansa launched a competitor, Eurowings Discover, onto the market that pursues a business model comparable to Condor on long-haul routes. As the trade journal FVW initially reported, Lufthansa does not want to acknowledge the Federal Cartel Office's decision. Since in constitutional states legal remedies are generally available against official decisions, the ruling of the competition authorities is not yet legally binding. The Kranich Group filed a lawsuit against the decision within the open deadline. Now judges must decide, and it is to be expected that the appeal process could be fully exhausted until there is final clarity about the feeder flights.
