Singapore Airlines reports record profit

The record profit of EUR 888 million (S$1,23 billion) for the first half of the year and EUR 489 million (S$678 million) for the second quarter was driven in part by the sharp increase in air travel and the easing of entry requirements in many key markets. In addition, the Group has launched efficient initiatives to cope with the increase in travel demand during the pandemic, starting with the launch of the Vaccinated Travel Lane between Singapore and Germany in September 2021. Singapore Airlines and Scoot carried 30 million passengers in the six months to September 2022, 11,4, a 13-fold increase year-on-year. Passenger volumes and load factors were robust across all cabin classes and route regions, except in East Asia, where travel restrictions remain in place in some markets. The Group's passenger capacity increased to an average of 2022 percent of pre-pandemic levels in the second quarter of fiscal year 23/68.

Klagenfurt had 27.941 passengers in the third quarter of 2022

In the third quarter of 2022, 27.941 travelers used Klagenfurt Airport. In July, August and September 2022, a total of 438 commercial flights were operated from this airport. Compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of over 60 percent. In the first nine months of the current year, there were 927 commercial flight movements at Carinthia Airport. There were 56.990 travelers on board the aircraft. This made Klagenfurt the Austrian airport that had the fewest passengers during this period. The low-cost airline Ryanair has been offering the destinations London-Stansted, Charleroi and Dublin, each of which is served twice a week, since this week. Xfly flies two ATR72-600 for TAP

The airline TAP Air Portugal is taking two ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft from Xfly on a wet lease. This will replace the aircraft that were recently terminated. A replacement has been found in Estonia, as TAP is taking two ATR72-600s from Xfly on a wet lease. The aircraft will be used on regional routes from Portugal. A few days ago, Xfly's sister company Nordica carried out the first commercial charter flight with an Airbus A320.

Spanish airspace temporarily closed due to Chinese space rocket

Spanish airspace had to be closed temporarily on Friday morning. The reason for this is that the remains of a Chinese space rocket had fallen. For safety reasons, the areas around Ibiza, Tarragona and Barcelona were closed for around 40 minutes. The EASA had previously issued an urgent warning that a part of a space rocket from the People's Republic of China weighing up to 23 tonnes could fall over Spanish territory. As a precaution, the possible impact areas were closed, which led to considerable delays in air traffic. Ultimately, the object largely burned up when it entered the atmosphere. However, smaller parts may remain that could pose a significant danger to aviation. The object came from a Chinese rocket that carried a module for China's space station into space on Monday.

Heston launches Malta subsidiary as Valletta Air

A few days ago it was announced that Heston Airlines will launch a Malta branch. This will be called Valletta Air. The external appearance will clearly stand out from the existing airline from Vilnius. The group of companies has already managed a PR coup in advance, as there were rumors that the Maltese government could establish a successor to Air Malta under the name Valletta Air. Numerous media outlets across Europe have fallen for these unverified rumors. There was never any official confirmation from the Maltese government or Air Malta. There is a good reason for this, as the Lithuanian ACMI and charter provider Heston Airlines is behind Valletta Air. A few days ago it was announced that Heston Airlines had launched a Malta branch. The AOC and operating license are expected to be granted in the first quarter of 2023. The number of aircraft that Valletta Air will operate in summer 2023 has not yet been finalized. Mavio News was the first to report on the fact that the Maltese Heston start-up will be called Valletta Air.

Summer 2023: Austrian Airlines abolishes Nightstop in Innsbruck

There will be changes on the domestic route between Innsbruck and Vienna at the start of the 2023 summer flight schedule period. Austrian Airlines will forego the currently usual night stop in Tyrol. As a result, the late evening flight to Innsbruck and the early morning flight to Vienna will be cancelled or replaced by other routes. Austrian Airlines has so far offered an evening connection under flight number OS 913, which lands in Innsbruck at around 22:50 p.m. This is usually operated with an Embraer 195. The aircraft then "overnights" in Tyrol and takes off the following day at 6:35 a.m. as OS 914 for Vienna. The pair of routes including the night stop will only be offered until March 24, 2023. Both flights are frequently used by business travelers, as the morning flight reaches Austrian Airlines' Vienna morning wave and can be flown back in the evening with the late wave. As an alternative, business travellers now have the connection to the Frankfurt am Main hub operated by Air Dolomiti, as the earliest AUA flight to Vienna will not take off until 8:25 a.m. in the future, as the aircraft must first be "flown in" from Vienna as OS 915. A spokeswoman explained to Aviation.Direct: "The night stop OS913/4 will be replaced by the early flight OS915/6. This means that we can continue to adequately serve the point-to-point demand ex INN for day trips, and better day trips to INN are also possible ex VIE." The media officer also said: "The night stops are primarily intended to serve business travel from the federal states to Vienna, which, however, has not yet seen a significant increase in demand in the past summer and is also not currently the case.
