Dresden and Leipzig/Halle airports were able to more than double the number of passengers

Last year, Dresden and Leipzig/Halle airports counted a total of 2.403.772 passengers. This means that passenger numbers have more than doubled. Together with our partners in the airline and tourism industries, we are working consistently towards this goal," says Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, adding: "Freight volume at Leipzig/Halle Airport increased for 2021 years in a row up to 16. By 2019 percent from 2022 to 22 alone. And we also see clear growth potential for the future, which we will use determinedly." Around 1,51 million tons of freight were handled at Leipzig/Halle Airport in 2022. The volume is thus 5,1 percent below the previous year's result. This development can be attributed to a global economic slowdown and the severely restricted Chinese market due to corona, the airport said in a press release.

Air Serbia deploys fifth ATR72-600

A few days ago, Air Serbia took delivery of its fifth ATR72-600, the YU-ASA. The turboprop aircraft is nine years old and was last used by the now defunct Stobart Air. Last year, Air Serbia began modernizing its ATR72 fleet. The existing aircraft in the -200 and 500 series are showing their age. Five used ATR72-600s were purchased from leasing companies and gradually added to the fleet. Two older models, the YU-ALU and the YU-AP, are currently still in use, but the portal Ex-Yu-Aviation.com writes that these will be phased out shortly. Some of the turboprop aircraft that flew for Air Serbia were over 30 years old. The average age of the five ATR72-600s is around seven years. This means that the fleet has been significantly rejuvenated. The carrier is considering converting the ATR72-200/500s that have been withdrawn from passenger flight operations into freighters. This would mean entering the cargo business. However, a final decision has not yet been made. The slideshow below contains some impressions of the newest member of the Air Serbia fleet:
