Martinair orders four Airbus A350Fs
The Dutch airline Martinair will introduce four Airbus A350F cargo aircraft into its fleet. These will replace older Boeing 747Fs. The KLM subsidiary is thus modernizing its partly aging fleet. "We are very pleased about this important step towards the A350F. It accelerates Air France KLM Martinair Cargo's sustainability efforts through significant improvements in fuel emissions and compliance with the strictest ICAO Chapter 14 for noise and CAEP 8 for nitrogen oxides (NOx). We are fit for the future," said Adriaan den Heijer, Executive Vice President Air France KLM Cargo and Managing Director Martinair. The Airbus A350F is based on the passenger aircraft that has been on the market for some time. The cargo variant was presented in 2021. So far, the European aircraft manufacturer has landed 35 orders from seven customers. "Another A350F confirmation, and a great one at that! We are delighted to welcome the A350F into the KLM/Martinair world. This confirms the importance of this most modern, high-capacity, long-range freighter for the air cargo segment. I am very pleased with the launch of our programme. With 50% less noise and 40% less fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to the older generation freighters it replaces, this is hardly a surprise! We thank the Air France-KLM Group for its continued trust,” said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International. The delivery to Martinair comes in time to meet the latest ICAO carbon dioxide emission standards, which will come into force by the end of 2027, according to Airbus.
