AIr-India-B777 had to land in Stockholm due to oil leak
The airline Air India had to make an unscheduled stopover in Stockholm-Arlanda on February 21, 2023 due to an oil leak on one of the engines of the Boeing 777-300ER. Flight AI106 was en route from New York-Newark to Delhi. During the long-haul flight, the cockpit crew discovered an oil pressure problem on the right engine. For safety reasons, it was decided to switch it off and land at Stockholm-Arlanda Airport. The VT-ALK was able to touch down safely at the Swedish capital airport. During a ground inspection, it was then noticed that there was an oil leak. The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has already announced that the matter will be investigated further. Therefore, no statement can currently be made about the exact cause of the oil loss in the area of the right engine of the Boeing 777-300ER that was in use for Air India on flight AI21 on February 2021, 106. However, the emergency landing, during which neither passengers nor crew suffered any harm, was unavoidable.
