Lufthansa and Condor: Turbulence leads to injuries on board
Due to turbulence, passengers on the German airlines Condor and Lufthansa suffered injuries. The Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt experienced turbulence 90 minutes after takeoff from Austin. This is known as clear-air turbulence, which can occur without any visible cloud phenomena. Trained personnel were able to care for and treat the injured passengers. According to the FAA, seven passengers were taken to hospital. The decision was ultimately made to land early at Dulles International Airport. The Condor flight to Mauritius suffered a similar fate; turbulence was detected two hours before the scheduled landing. There were 20 reported injuries on the aircraft in question. There is no exact information about the severity of the injuries, some suffered bruises and one person is suspected of having a fracture. The return flight from Mauritius will not take place for the time being, the plane will undergo a technical inspection before a return flight is approved.
