American Airlines: Pilots should earn $ 590.000 in the future

Following the announcement by Delta Airlines that it would be introducing pay increases for pilots in the future, two other giants in US aviation are set to follow suit. The airlines being discussed are American Airlines and United Airlines. Pilot pay is set to increase by 40 percent in the future - this is putting pressure on low-cost airlines. The seriousness of this problem for the pilots involved becomes clear at the latest during the protests. Last December, however, things were not exactly respectful. When the United Airlines pilots protested about the collective bargaining agreement, CEO Scott Kirby wanted to appear before the audience. However, they only turned their backs on him and the union posted the picture on Twitter with the description "The Company has turned its back on Pilots, today we did the same. 4 Years Past Due!" The airline wanted to accommodate the problem, but the reason for the protests was the negotiation process at the other airlines - they are said to be much more advanced. United Airlines is also expected to follow suit, and airline boss Kirby was not opposed to further increases. American Airlines wants to follow suit - higher pay and higher profit sharing Last week, the salary increase for pilots at Delta was announced. Over the next four years, their pay will increase by 4 percent - American Airlines now wants to match. As can be seen from a letter from American Airlines boss Robert Isom, Delta's agreement will fundamentally change some things. The US airline is expected to match Delta's salaries and American Airlines will also have the same profit sharing.

Air Cairo and SunExpress extend sales cooperation

The airlines Air Cairo and SunExpress are extending their long-standing cooperation for a further three years. This affects Egypt flights from the DA-CH region, which the Turkish airline is not allowed to operate itself due to the lack of an EU AOC. As part of the ITB, which is currently taking place in Berlin, the two companies signed a letter of intent to continue their cooperation for a further three years. The new LOI is a supplement to an existing overarching three-year contract that was signed earlier in 2023. “We are very pleased to be able to extend our successful partnership with SunExpress for a further three years. This is not only a success for both companies, but above all for Egyptian tourism. Together with SunExpress and our large domestic route network, we want to open Egypt even further to visitors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland in order to showcase Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel or the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo (near Sphinx Airport). This year we are aiming for one million passengers on our international flights between Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm El Sheik and the German-speaking countries," said Hussein Sherif, CEO and Chairman of Air Cairo. Following the closure of SunExpress Germany, the airline had to look for a partner, as the Turkish AOC does not allow non-stop flights between Germany and Egypt. They found what they were looking for in the Egyptair subsidiary Air Cairo. This developed into a sales cooperation that now includes 87 weekly flights from 15 airports in the DA-CH region to Hurghada, Marsa Alam and Sharm El Sheikh.

Moses Lake: Mitsubishi Spacjet test aircraft scrapped

The Mitsubishi Spacejet was once an ambitious program of the Japanese aviation industry. Not only has development now been completely stopped, but the test aircraft stationed in Moses Lake was also scrapped on March 8, 2023. This symbolically marks the end of a chapter in Japanese aviation, as the Spacejet M90 was demolished with heavy equipment. The fuselage of the aircraft is split in half directly behind the wings, the rear section and the tail unit are on the ground. According to a person familiar with the matter and Cirium's fleet data, the aircraft had the registration JA21MJ and was manufactured in 2015. The now destroyed aircraft served Mitsubishi as a test machine before the program was discontinued. Flight tests were carried out at Moses Lake. These were intended to lead to type certification by the FAA. Originally, four aircraft of the series were to be stationed at this airport, but the program not only stalled, it never received certification and was completely abandoned by the Japanese manufacturer.
