Iraqi Airways is looking forward to the first Dreamliner

With the YI-ATC, Iraqi Airways is taking delivery of the first of a total of ten Boeing 787 Dreamliners on order. The first unit was assembled at the Charleston site and will soon be delivered to Iraq. The carrier also celebrated the event on social media by distributing photos showing the long-haul aircraft in Iraqi Airways colors. The exact date for the delivery flight will be announced in the next few days. The airline has ordered a total of ten Dreamliners: nine 787-8s and one aircraft of the larger 787 variant, the -9. All ten aircraft are powered by General Electric GEnx-1B engines. The carrier, based in Baghdad, currently has a fleet of 36 aircraft. However, 18 of these are not in use. Some of the aircraft are getting old. This is one of the reasons why the first four Airbus A220s were recently put into scheduled service. Another aircraft is due to be delivered soon. Iraqi Airways has also ordered 15 Boeing 737-Max aircraft.

Condor and Dominican Republic agree on partnership

Lufthansa launches “Cityline II” as City Airlines

Lufthansa is launching a new group airline under the name City Airlines GmbH. This is the project that was previously known as "Cityline II". This was actually supposed to be finished, but work continued behind the scenes. The youngest Kranich offshoot now also has its own website. The new carrier is scheduled to launch in mid-2023 and will serve "European cities and remote regions" for Lufthansa under the leadership of Cityline. The fleet is to be made up of medium-haul jets from the manufacturer Airbus, which are already in use by other Kranich airlines. According to reports, recruitment has already begun. Officially, flying positions are not to be advertised until summer 2023. There is a good reason for this, because at the moment there is a so-called peace obligation regarding collective bargaining with the Cockpit Association. After the deadline has expired, Lufthansa obviously wants to start up City Airlines, which is to operate feeder flights. The company was founded in the summer of 2022. It was originally known in the industry as "Cityline II". The business model is said to be almost identical to that of the aforementioned sister company. Synergies are obviously also to be exploited. Widerøe postpones Hamburg and Munich flights
