Airport KV: Chamber of Commerce and union agree on higher wages
The Chamber of Commerce has agreed with the ÖGB sub-unions Vida and GPA on wage increases for employees at Austrian commercial airports. With retroactive effect from January 1, 2023, there will initially be 5,6 percent more money. As of May 1, 2023, all wage and salary components (including allowances) will be increased by a further 11,8 percent. There is also a compound interest effect. Together, this represents an increase of 18,06 percent compared to last year. Incomes for new entrants to the profession are now between EUR 2.343,55 and 2.525 gross per month. Apprentices' incomes will increase by up to 26 percent compared to January 1, 2023. The collective agreement is valid for 45 months. “The collective agreement is absolutely impressive and is a sign of appreciation for the employees' extraordinarily good performance. "Due to the high inflation, the agreement was also a necessary step to secure the income level at the airport," agree the collective bargaining managers of Vida and GPA, David John and Thomas Schäffer. "This year's collective bargaining negotiations were still shaped by the effects of the COVID-12 crisis," commented WKÖ Aviation Chairman Günther Ofner on the agreement reached. At the same time, Ofner makes it clear: "With this agreement, which is unfortunately very expensive for companies, the special burdens during the COVID crisis and the successfully managed restart in aviation are also recognized. The attractiveness of jobs in aviation is thus significantly increased."
