Marabu subcontractor has passengers announced that the flight has been canceled

Condor's sister company Marabu is causing a stir with the fact that the crew of the Maltese subcontractor Air Horizont simply let a passenger on board the bad news that there would be no more take-offs to Hamburg today. A video recorded by a passenger and initially published by the German newspaper Bild shows the incident that occurred on June 23, 2023 on board the Boeing 737-400 operated by Air Horizont with the registration 9H-AMW, which should have been flying as Marabu flight MBU6641. Condor's sister company Marabu Airlines has not been out of the negative headlines since it started operations. Enormous delays, short-term cancellations and a lack of care for the affected travelers seem to be the order of the day. The company has repeatedly asserted that it is trying to remedy the situation by unbundling the flight schedule and renting additional wet-lease aircraft. Some travellers are annoyed that they had originally booked a Condor flight but were then rebooked onto sister company Marabu, which has taken over numerous routes from the German airline, including from Munich and Hamburg. As the Estonian airline currently only operates the ES-MBU itself, while all other aircraft are operated by third-party providers such as Nordica and Heston Airlines, this shows once again that relying almost exclusively on ACMI providers can end in chaos. Marabu has now also rented aircraft from other operators because it cannot get the obvious problems with the jets operated by Nordica, Heston and itself under control. These include the Boeing 737-400 operated by Air Horizont, which was taken off the ground on 23 June XNUMX.

Summer 2024: Norwegian reactivates base Palma de Mallorca

The low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle will reactivate another base in the summer of 2024. This is the Palma de Mallorca location, which was closed a few months before the corona pandemic. The Norwegian aviation group had overstretched itself massively with the long-haul project and the expansion with a branch in Argentina, among other things. Even before the corona pandemic, the company was in serious financial trouble. In the wake of the crisis, the company took refuge in insolvency proceedings and survived them on a much smaller scale. In Spain, the bases in Málaga, Barcelona and Alicante have now been reactivated. The one in Palma de Mallorca is to follow in the 2024 summer flight schedule. This is a clear indication that the carrier intends to compete with Germany, among other countries, in the coming year.
