Eurowings is building new bases in Hanover and Nuremberg

The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings is increasing its offering from the German airports of Nuremberg and Hanover in the 2023/24 winter flight schedule. Ex-Niki boss Lackmann changes from Tuifly to German Airways

The German airline German Airways will have a new boss, effective November 1, 2023, in the form of former Niki and current Tuifly managing director Oliver Lackmann. He will lead the carrier alongside Maren Wolters. Lackmann was the last managing director in the company's history of the Austrian airline Niki, founded by Niki Lauda and later taken over by Air Berlin. Shortly after the start of the insolvency proceedings, it was announced that he would be moving to Tuifly. He is currently one of the managing directors at the German holiday airline as Chief Flight Operations. "We are delighted that Oliver Lackmann, a very experienced airline manager, is joining us. Stuttgart Airport: Supermarket open at night for self-service

Dortmund Airport: New apprentices have started their training

Hamburg Airport is reorganizing the management

After more than 20 years, Hamburg Airport is getting a new CEO, as Michael Eggenschwiler will retire at the end of 2023. He will be succeeded by Christian Kunsch, who has been a member of the company management since 2019. New to the management board of the northern German airport is Berit Schmitz, who will be appointed to the management next year. In her career to date, she has served on the management board of Hanover Airport and, most recently, as Managing Director of Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft. This means that from 2024, Hamburg Airport will be managed by Christian Kunsch (Chairman) and Berit Schmitz. "It is an honor for me that the shareholders have entrusted me with the chairmanship of the management board on January 1, 2024 - this gives me the opportunity to continue the successful work started with Michael Eggenschwiler and to shape the future of the airport. We are currently feeling how strongly demand for air travel is picking up again. The aim here is to continue to drive forward the development towards sustainable infrastructure and aviation technology. I am looking forward to tackling this task as part of a team and having an experienced aviation expert on the management board," says Kunsch. The new management will take up office in the first quarter of next year; Christian Kunsch will take on the new role on January 1, Berit Schmitz on April 1 at the latest. The shareholders of the partially privatized airport are the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg with 51 percent and AviAlliance GmbH with 49 percent.
