Nis has already operated numerous flights to the capital of Great Britain in the past, and this should become the case again. The Serbian city of Nis aims to start flights to the English capital London, as it has done before. The necessary discussions are already underway and Mayor Sotirovski is confident: "The possibility of starting flights from Niš to one of the cities in the United Kingdom is being considered in order to further strengthen the ties between the city and this country." Another reason to involve the city in its own flight program is the fact that London was one of the first destinations when the airport was founded, as the portal Ex-Yu Aviation News discusses.

Georgia blocks Boeing 737 from Belavia

The Civil Aviation Authority of Georgia has banned the Belarusian airline Belavia from using the Boeing 737 aircraft on flights from Minsk to Tbilisi, Batumi and Kutaisi. Many citizens are also annoyed by the flights to Belarus. In some areas, Georgia has joined the Western sanctions. This means that Belavia is prohibited from using Boeing 737s in Georgian airspace. Bern: Skywork bankruptcy proceedings concluded after five years

The bankruptcy proceedings of Skywork Airlines, which went bankrupt in August 2018, were finally concluded a few days ago. The Bern-Mittelland bankruptcy office has approved the distribution quota. The former Skywork flight school was turned into a regional airline for Bern with the help of many millions of Swiss francs provided by Rolex heir Daniel Borer. The carrier was on an expansion course for several years with Dornier 328s and, at times, de Havilland Dash 8-400s. They never made any money and at some point the investor lost interest. The majority of the company then went to Martin Inäbnit, under whose management the fleet was converted to Saab 2000, among other things. The purchase of regional jets of the Embraer 170 or Sukhoi Superjet SSJ-100 type was also considered, but no order was placed. On August 29, 2018, the last Skywork flight took place and the company, which had been on the verge of collapse several times in its history, had to file for bankruptcy. Previously, negotiations with the Zeitfracht Group, which were supposed to have led to a possible takeover, were broken off without result. Company boss Martin Inäbnit said during the bankruptcy filing that he saw no alternative or future for the regional airline. Initially, it was assumed that SkyWork was not completely bankrupt, but would not have survived the winter. However, in the bankruptcy proceedings, a large number of creditors filed claims, some of which were extremely high. It can therefore be assumed that Inäbnit knew full well that he was legally obliged to file for bankruptcy and that is exactly what the last Skywork boss did. According to a report in the Berner Zeitung

First customer: Easyjet Europe uses digital Austro-Control certificates

The Austrian airline Easyjet Europe is the first carrier to use the digital airworthiness certificates optionally provided by Austro Control. According to the operator, these have been available to the 1 Airbus jets registered in the OE register since July 2023, 126. The first aircraft to be equipped with the new digital certificates was the Airbus A320 with the registration OE-LSQ. Since July 1, Austro Control has been offering an innovative process for the digital signing and delivery of all official documents carried on the aircraft that were previously issued and transmitted in paper form. In EasyJet's European fleet, which consists of 126 aircraft registered in Austria and is therefore the largest fleet in the country, the paper airworthiness certificates are gradually being replaced by digital certificates. So far, Easyjet Europe is the only Austrian operator to use this solution. The digital certificates, which include the registration certificate, airworthiness certificate and noise certificate, are official certificates and are recognised by the various national civil aviation authorities across Europe. This new procedure offers two main advantages. Firstly, this innovative approach brings significant time and cost savings as it eliminates the need to transport up-to-date official documents to maintenance personnel at different locations in Europe. Secondly, thanks to the digital airworthiness certificates, Easyjet continues its digitalisation efforts in the cockpit to enable a paperless cockpit. “We are delighted that Austro Control is one of the first European regulators to introduce this new procedure and would like to congratulate them on it. As Europe's leading airline, we are very pleased with this success as Easyjet has supported and encouraged this development from the very beginning. This

Austria: Government wants to make tourism more sustainable

"Austria should be one of the most sustainable destinations in the world. This involves a lot of effort, but one thing is clear: sustainability is here to stay. Companies and destinations that are sustainable in the ecological, social and economic dimensions will have a clear competitive advantage in the future," said State Secretary for Tourism Susanne Kraus-Winkler in the run-up to the sustainability tour, which began on August 17, 2023. Many tourism companies have already successfully embarked on the path to sustainability. For example, 275 accommodation establishments are now certified with the Austrian Ecolabel, 128 with the EU Ecolabel and seven with the Green Key. In addition, there are also a large number of restaurants, tour operators, event locations, museums, etc. that are certified with the Austrian Ecolabel. Two tourism destinations have so far received the Austrian Ecolabel, one of which has also received the Green Destinations award and another has been certified across borders according to the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) criteria for destinations. "The aim of the sustainability tour is to bring these best practice examples to the fore and show how intensively tourism is in the transformation process. This is the only way we can learn from the best of the best and continue Austrian tourism's path to sustainability," says Kraus-Winkler. Tourism policy provides many impulses for more sustainability Austria has been a pioneer in sustainable tourism for many years. Since 2019, the federal government's tourism policy (Plan T - Master Plan for Tourism) has placed a special emphasis on sustainability. For process optimization in companies (e.g. energy management), in booking decisions by guests, for regional cooperation and also in the area of credit and funding, the topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly important.
