Edelweiss takes delivery of another A320 from Swiss

The holiday airline Edelweiss is increasing its Airbus A320 fleet to 14 units. The company announced that it will take over the aircraft with the registration HB-JLP from its sister company Swiss. The aircraft in question is currently 12,7 years old and was delivered to Swiss in 2011. From next year it will be part of the Edelweiss fleet. This will then grow to 14 Airbus A320s in the short and medium-haul segment. Taking into account the recent A340 fleet entry, Edelweiss Air will then operate 2024 aircraft in the summer of 19. In the medium term, the four-engine aircraft will be phased out, as Airbus A350-900s, which will be taken over second-hand from Latam Airlines, will form the backbone of the long-haul routes in the future.

Ryanair boss O'Leary complains about new Boeing delivery delays

About the fact that the Ryanair Group received the bad news from Boeing a few days ago that it would again receive fewer B2023 Max 737s by the end of 200. CEO Michael O'Leary is not at all happy about this. He criticized it heavily in an interview with "The Telegraph". "Boeing needs to get its act together and start delivering these planes on time. I felt very sorry for Boeing. The Max was grounded for two years, but that was two years ago. It's time for them to pull themselves together and deliver these planes," said O'Leary. Boeing needs to get this "s**t together," said the boss of Europe's largest low-cost airline. It's not as if Ryanair hasn't known for some time that the US manufacturer cannot meet the schedule, but what is new is that the number of planes it is due to receive by the end of 2023 has once again been revised downwards by Boeing. Just a few weeks ago, Ryanair had to admit that it would have to thin out its 2023/24 winter flight schedule due to a lack of aircraft. The reason given was that fewer aircraft were being delivered than Boeing had promised. Now the low-cost airline may well have to cut costs again. "We are working with Boeing to speed up these deliveries. But the big problem for us is that we are due to receive 57 aircraft by the end of April. We hope to get them by the end of June, but if they are delayed until July or August, it will be too late and we will not take them," O'Leary told The Telegraph.

Surprise: Flixtrain wagons spotted behind steam locomotive

Is the private railway operator Flixtrain switching to steam locomotives because of high electricity prices? At least that is what one might assume based on a photo published by a specialist railway portal. After all, it shows wagons in Flix design behind a steam locomotive. At least in the DA-CH region, steam traction - apart from special services - is now extremely rare. Even rarer: Flixtrain wagons coupled to a lignite-loving steam locomotive. Is Flixtrain now relying on coal-fired water to boil because of high electricity prices? Not at all, a spokesperson for Flix SE clarifies. The steam locomotive and the Flixtrain wagons were transferred together with the help of an electric locomotive. In aviation, such a process would be called a "ferry flight". They simply shared the transfer with a historic steam locomotive. "The photo shows a transfer trip; an electric locomotive transferred one of our wagons and a steam locomotive. There's really nothing more to it," a Flix spokesperson told Aviation.Direct. The photo can be found at this link on Lok-Report.de.
