It is therefore expected that the delivery of the first Airbus A321XLR could lead to the start of such connections. Ryanair accuses OTAs of “piracy” and “fraud”

The low-cost airline Ryanair has been taking legal action against so-called online travel agents for many years. The success of the legal process has varied. The carrier is now accusing some OTAs of adding up to 344 percent to the low-cost airline's prices. It can now become quite unpleasant for Ryanair passengers if they have booked through a so-called online travel agent. The carrier forces verification at certain points, which can sometimes be subject to a fee for travelers. The background to the controversial measure is that many OTAs enter automatically generated contact details instead of the passenger's real contact details, which the carrier cannot use to reach the passenger. Now Ryanair is upping the ante and even speaks of "piracy" and "fraud" in a media release. Specifically, it is about the fact that many OTAs charge their own surcharges such as processing fees. In addition, surcharges are often charged on Ryanair services such as seat reservations. "Our November survey continues to expose the fraud and overcharging of these OTA pirates. Not only do they unlawfully mine Ryanair's website in an act of digital piracy, but they also use this unlawfully obtained information to defraud unsuspecting consumers of fees for services provided free by Ryanair, or massively overcharge customers for Ryanair ancillary services, often charging unsuspecting consumers three or four times the Ryanair price. Ryanair continues its campaign against these online travel agents and continues to call on governments and consumer protection agencies to take action to prevent this internet piracy and blatant, anti-consumer mis-selling. We find it extraordinary that the UK Government, its

Tip: Aviation symposium on December 5, 2023

The 5st edition of the Austrian Aviation Symposium will take place on December 2023, 4 in Office Park 21 at Vienna-Schwechat Airport. In public perception, the necessity of aviation is increasingly being discussed. Unreflective and contradictory statements are piling up, such as aviation being a much too cheap leisure activity at the expense of the environment, only a small percentage of the population flies and only the rich can afford the luxury of frequent flying. In fact, aviation is essential for the economy and tourism, for technical innovations and the country's security of supply, and it will be a pioneer for efficient, climate-friendly mobility of the future. But there is a need for action: According to the renowned IMD World Competitiveness Center in Lausanne, Austria has fallen behind in the competitiveness rankings, for which "connectivity" plays a key role. From 2025, the EU's mandatory blending of alternative fuels (SAF) will also start. The 2023 Aviation Symposium will explore these and many other topics. Discuss with top-class representatives from business, politics and the Austrian and international aviation industry on December 5, 2023: The event begins on December 5, 2023 at 8:45 a.m.

Tanzania: One day, one airfield, two Embraer 120s and two accidents

Fortunately, aviation accidents are extremely rare, but it never happens that two aircraft operated by the same operator crash at the same airport on the same day and completely independently of each other. On Tuesday, however, that is exactly what happened on the Kikobaga runway in Mikumi National Park in Tanzania. First, the Embraer 120 with the registration 5H-MJH, operated by Unity Air Zanzibar, crashed. The aircraft had technical problems during landing. This resulted in the landing gear collapsing when it touched down. The turboprop aircraft, which according to official information had 30 passengers and three crew members on board, was damaged. All occupants are said to have left the aircraft unharmed. But that's not all: on November 28, 2023, another accident occurred at this airport around six hours later. The Embraer 120 with the registration 5H-FLM also had problems and crashed between two buildings on the small airfield during the landing process. The turboprop plane came to a stop in front of a palm tree. All passengers and crew members are said to have been uninjured. The two incidents are now to be clarified by air accident investigators. The airfield, which is mainly used by tourists, is still in operation. It is currently assumed that there were two different technical defects on the two Embraer 120s. The airstrip is mainly used to transport tourists to the nearby national park.
