Qatar Airways celebrates its 20th anniversary at Vienna Airport

Last week, Qatar Airways and Vienna-Schwechat Airport celebrated the 20th anniversary of the non-stop connection between the capitals of Austria and Qatar. This connection has been in operation since 2003. "Twenty years ago, Qatar Airways created an air bridge between Vienna and Doha, thereby creating new travel opportunities. The continuous growth to now two daily connections proves how important this direct travel route is for both sides. With the deployment of the first Dreamliner in scheduled service at Vienna Airport, the airline has also set new quality standards for us. We would like to thank them for our shared successes and the high level of commitment to service quality that links Vienna Airport and Qatar Airways. The last two decades have been characterized by a good partnership. We congratulate the airline on its 20th anniversary in Vienna and look forward to a further successful future," said Vienna Airport Director Julian Jäger.

The Border Guard Service of Lithuania has signed a contract with Airbus Helicopters to supply three five-bladed H145 multi-purpose helicopters to expand its fleet, bringing the total number to 145 units. "We are allocating significant resources to equip our State Border Guard with state-of-the-art equipment such as the H145 multi-purpose helicopters," said Lithuanian Interior Minister Agné Bilotaité. "Finished partly from the state budget and thanks to European funds, the H200s will further strengthen the reconnaissance and response capabilities of our border guards and contribute to Lithuania's security," she added. The helicopters will be used for a wide range of missions, including search and rescue, disaster relief and medical evacuation, border protection, firefighting, transport of donor organs and operations by the Lithuanian special forces. More than 145 helicopters from the H145 family are deployed in public services and law enforcement missions around the world. The simplicity of the new bearingless main rotor design will also facilitate maintenance operations, further enhancing the H1.650's exemplary serviceability and reliability, while increasing flight comfort for passengers and crew. In total, more than 145 helicopters from the H7,5 family are in service and have completed a total of more than 145 million flight hours. Airbus expects to have 17.000 aircraft worldwide in 2042

The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus expects the market value for civil aircraft services to rise to 2042 billion US dollars by 255. This would mean a virtual doubling of the value, according to the manufacturer. This is according to the latest Global Services Forecast (GSF), which includes the categories 'Maintain', 'Train & Operate' and 'Enhance'. The decisive factors for this dynamic are the recovering air traffic and the demand for more digitally equipped and connected aircraft. According to the GSF, more than 2042 aircraft will be replaced by 17.000, due to the continuous modernization of the fleet and investments in the latest generation of aircraft. This will create growing market opportunities for reuse, repair and recycling. "Airbus is well positioned to meet today's and tomorrow's service needs, helping the industry do more with less, increasing efficiency while reducing fuel consumption, emissions and noise," said Cristina Aguilar Grieder, Senior Vice President Customer Services at Airbus. Airbus expects the 'Maintenance' market to grow from $108 billion to $210 billion. The 'Improvement' market for aircraft is expected to grow from $11 billion to $28 billion annually, and the 'Training and Operations' market from $11 billion to $17 billion in 2042. As a result, Airbus expects an additional need for 20 million highly skilled workers over the next 2,2 years, consisting of 680.000 new technicians, 590.000 new pilots and 920.000 new cabin crew. The biggest increases in

Ryanair rejects Frankfurt/Main

Some time ago, the budget airline Ryanair loudly withdrew from Frankfurt am Main Airport and closed the local base. Company boss Eddie Wilson does not see a quick return in sight, even with the opening of Terminal 3. In an interview with the "Frankfurter Rundschau" newspaper, he cited various reasons for this. The main reason, however, is that Germany is currently "right at the bottom" of the list of priorities. This is said to be related to high costs and the politically hostile mood towards aviation, among other things. In Frankfurt-Hahn, on the other hand, Wilson can imagine a gentle expansion of the offer.

Tap passengers reach Lajes in 33,5 hours after four alternative landings

From November 25, 2023, the passengers of Tap Air Portugal flight TP1823, which was supposed to fly from Lisbon to Lajes, had a real odyssey behind them. They returned to the country's capital twice and made two alternative landings in Ponta Delgada. First, on November 25, 2023, the Airbus A321neo, registered as CS-TJJ, headed for Lajes. The attempt to land on the island of Terceira had to be aborted. The captain then decided to fly back to Lisbon. There the plane was refueled. In the meantime, the affected passengers are said to have been provided with food and drinks by Tap Air Portugal. Later, they got back on the plane and made a new attempt to land in Lajes. However, this was also unsuccessful due to the weather, which then resulted in the diversion to Ponta Delgada. The onward flight to the actual destination was scheduled to take place at around 20:20 p.m. local time. The landing failed again, so the captain decided to fly back to Lisbon. Late in the evening, the plane landed in the capital again. The passengers were supposed to be flown to Lajes on November 26, 2023. But that didn't happen again, because the medium-haul jet was diverted to Ponta Delgada again. It was only later that the plane took off for Lajes and this time the landing was successful. The travelers arrived at their destination 33,5 hours late and had to make two alternative landings in Lisbon and Ponta Delgada. The airline Tap

Cuba vacations are significantly less in demand than before the pandemic

Before the corona pandemic, Cuba was considered a very popular holiday destination. It welcomed up to five million tourists a year. With 1,9 million travelers so far in 2023, this is still a long way off. The Cuban government has set a target for the current year of welcoming around 3,5 million holidaymakers. This will most likely no longer be achieved. Although the number of visitors from last year has already been exceeded by 165 percent, Cuba is currently unable to match the pre-crisis figure.
