After landing on a scheduled flight operated by Pakistan International Airlines from Lahore to Toronto, a flight attendant has once again disappeared without a trace. He did not show up for the return flight, so it is suspected that he has fled. This is not the first incident of this kind; just four weeks ago, two other PIA flight attendants made off in Canada. It is assumed that they fled from Pakistan to the North American country this way. This is an illegal entry that the Canadian authorities will not tolerate in this form. Many countries grant crews of commercial aircraft, but also ships, numerous exceptions when entering the country. Lawmakers assume that the crews will only stay overnight and then go back to work and fly out of the country at the next opportunity. Time and again, pilots and/or flight attendants take the opportunity to escape. This phenomenon was particularly well-known during the Iron Curtain era, as crew members of the East German Interflug occasionally went missing on flights to “non-socialist countries.” According to local media reports, the Pakistan International Airlines flight attendant was not initially conspicuous. He is said to have failed to show up for the return flight to Islamabad. Neither the captain nor the airline were able to contact him.
