Lufthansa Group orders 80 new aircraft

The Lufthansa Group has placed a major order with Airbus and Boeing. Specifically, the German airline has ordered 80 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing. The Lufthansa Group was able to place major orders with Airbus and Boeing. The major order includes the purchase of 40 Airbus A220-300s and the purchase of 40 Boeing 737-8 Max. In addition, the German carrier secured 20 purchase options for Airbus A220-300s, 60 purchase options for Boeing 737-8 Maxs and a further 40 purchase options for Airbus A320s. The 40 Airbus A220-300s will primarily be used for Lufthansa City Airlines' flight operations; the first delivery of the A220-300s is scheduled for 2026. The Boeing 737-8 Maxs are to be delivered from the third quarter of 2027; the use of these aircraft will be defined in more detail at a later date. The current order has a list price of nine billion US dollars.

Fly2Sky flies with two Airbus A320s for Humo Air

Apron lighting: Nuremberg Airport has switched to LED

Nuremberg Airport has completed the conversion of the apron lighting to LED technology. Since this consumes significantly less energy than its predecessor, the airport will primarily save money. The conversion of the apron floodlights to LED lamps. 78 conventional spotlights on 13 masts were replaced. This brings even more brightness to the aircraft parking positions, at the same time this measure alone can save around 400.000 kWh and around 180 tons of CO₂ per year. Another aspect: LEDs have a lifespan of up to 100.000 hours - significantly longer than their predecessors.

Spain: Iberia faces ground staff strike

Flynas is planning Riyadh-Dubrovnik

The low-cost airline Flynas plans to set up a flight route between Riyadh and Dubrovnik in the 2024 summer flight schedule. This would be the first non-stop connection from Saudi Arabia to Croatia. Aegean Airlines will soon be flying to Ljubljana all year round

The Greek airline Aegean Airlines will fly between Athens and Ljubljana all year round. Until now, this was a seasonal route that was only offered during the warm season. According to a statement from Aegean Airlines, this route will be reactivated on April 5, 2024 and will also be served at least twice a week in the 2024/25 winter flight schedule.
