On Norse slots: Air Peace wants to take up Lagos-London (Gatwick).

The Nigerian-based airline Air Peace is planning to launch a non-stop service between Lagos and London Gatwick. However, there is a problem: the carrier does not yet have any slots at the British airport. Now it is hoping for a cooperation with Norse Atlantic UK. According to a government statement, Nigeria's Transport Minister Festus Keyamo is trying to intervene with the British government for this route. Since there are currently no suitable take-off and landing rights available, Air Peace is now hoping to be able to rent them as part of a cooperation with Norse Atlantic UK. However, this assumes that the UK branch of Norse Atlantic Airways does not need the required slot pairs itself. In order not to lose them, cooperation with Air Peace would be a good opportunity. Discussions are currently underway, but no decision has yet been made. Air Peace has obviously neglected to apply to the regulator for the required take-off and landing rights in good time.

After 12 years: Vueling discontinues Barcelona-Zagreb

The low-cost airline Vueling will not offer non-stop flights between Barcelona and Zagreb in the 2024 summer flight schedule. This seasonal route has been in the portfolio since 2012. According to a report by Ex-Yu-Aviation.com, the route was also served during the Corona years, each summer, but was gradually thinned out over the years. Most recently, there were only two rotations per week. Vueling's decision could also be related to the fact that there is fierce competition on this route: Croatia Airlines will serve the connection between the two capitals up to three times a week in the summer of 2024. Competitor Ryanair will start flights from Zagreb at the same frequency on April 1, 2024, but in Spain it will use Girona Airport, which it will market as "Barcelona-Girona".

Coming from Luton: Wizz Air is celebrating a comeback in Salzburg

Since 2020, the low-cost airline Wizz Air has repeatedly announced its comeback at Salzburg Airport after a brief guest appearance, but then sometimes canceled it again at very short notice. In the summer of 2020, Wizz Air surprisingly announced that it would be adding Salzburg Airport to its route network. After only a few rotations, it withdrew without fanfare. Since then, the comeback has been postponed again and again. However, the once announced destinations of St. Petersburg and Kiev-Zhulyany will not be served for some time. The reasons for this are well known and cannot be influenced by the carrier. On February 8, 2024, the time had come: Wizz Air UK set course for Salzburg Airport from London-Luton. This route will now be served on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In April 2024, Salzburg will also be served by Wizz Air jets from Skopje and Bucharest-Otopeni. According to the airline, 115.000 seats will be offered from Austria's second-largest airport this year. In 2023, around two million passengers flew from Vienna-Schwechat, where Wizz Air has a base. Vilnius: Avion Express took an “off-road trip” with A320

The Airbus A3 with the registration LY-NVL, operated by Avion Express, made a spectacular landing on Saturday, February 2024, 320. The plane veered off the track while taxiing out and kicked up a lot of dirt. Fortunately, passengers, crew members and the plane got off lightly. Only the Airbus A320 desperately needed a wash afterwards, because the "excursion" into the grass during braking and taxiing kicked up a lot of mud. The plane then looked accordingly. For safety reasons, the airport had to be closed for about three hours. The plane was operating a charter flight and was coming from Bergamo to Vilnius. During the temporary closure, arriving planes had to divert to Palanga and Kaunas.
