Marabu Airlines has Nordica and Xfly shares seized by court

Condor's sister company Marabu Airlines is bringing out the big guns against its former partner Nordica, having filed a €9,5 million damages claim. At the same time, a court order was obtained that all shares in Nordica and Xfly were temporarily seized as security. No other airline made such negative headlines last year as Estonian Condor's sister company Marabu Airlines. For months, the flight schedule was characterized by massive delays, cancellations and chaotic care for the affected passengers. Marabu itself only operated a few aircraft. The rest were rented by Heston and Nordica, among others. The latter company is owned by the state of Estonia via the Nordic Aviation Group and is to be sold. If no buyer is found, bankruptcy is an alternative. While most airlines in Europe managed to make high profits last year and wet-lease aircraft were in high demand, Nordica managed to fly deep into the red. So deep that the company's liquidity is in danger and the state of Estonia wants to pull the plug if no buyer is found. Now the planned sales of Nordica and its sister company Xfly have also been temporarily blocked because all shares have been seized due to a court order. This was done at the request of Marabu Airlines, which has claimed around 9,5 million euros in damages due to the miserable performance of its former wet-lease partner. A ailing financial situation is said to have played a role in the decision The argument that due to the ailing financial situation

ADV: “Strikes embarrass Germany just in time for the end of ITB”

The Association of German Airports is outraged that the unions Verdi and GDL are calling for a strike from March 7, 2024. In addition to the train drivers, Lufthansa ground staff and security staff in Hamburg and Frankfurt are also taking part in the industrial action. "Parallel to the strike by Lufthansa ground staff, the aviation security forces in Frankfurt and Hamburg are also scheduled to stop work tomorrow. On the day that the world's largest travel and tourism trade fair ends in Berlin, in addition to the strike by Deutsche Bahn, more than 250.000 travelers nationwide will be affected by flight cancellations. Travel and tourism managers who are meeting from all over the world for the ITB do not know how they will leave Berlin tomorrow. International trade fair visitors look in disbelief at the standstill in large parts of air traffic brought about by ver.di. Germany as a business and tourism location is embarrassed," explains Ralph Beisel (ADV General Manager).
