Tui is expanding its cooperation with Wizz Air

A few months ago, tour operator Tui began integrating flights operated by Wizz Air into its package tours. This will continue in summer 2024 and be extended to Budapest. Tui announced that it will book package travelers on four weekly Wizz Air flights each from Vienna and Budapest. These are destinations in Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece. The flights thus complement the existing portfolio from Vienna and Budapest and provide even more choice. In addition to three weekly connections with Austrian Airlines in the summer from Vienna to Chania on Crete, two more flights with Wizz Air will be offered from June 30th. An additional connection takes TUI guests to Larnaca on Cyprus on Saturdays and to Burgas in Bulgaria on Sundays. For Hungarian TUI guests, in addition to Turkey and Egypt, there will also be two weekly flights with Wizz Air to Larnaca and Heraklion in the summer. For extra comfort, TUI travelers can take one piece of hand luggage weighing up to 10 kg and one piece of checked luggage weighing up to 20 kg on Wizz Air flights free of charge. Check-in at the airport is also free for TUI guests.

Sanctions: USA focuses on Biman's planned Rome flights

The airline Biman Bangladesh has been planning to fly between Dhaka and Rome-Fiumicino again for some time. However, they are encountering resistance from the United States, because the regular flight route would use Iranian airspace. This would also mean that corresponding fees would have to be paid to this state. But this is precisely what is problematic for Biman Bangladesh, because the US authorities see this as a violation of the sanctions. It is not about using the airspace, but about paying the fees for overflights and air traffic control. In the opinion of the Americans, paying these would violate the existing sanctions. This has put Biman in a dilemma. On the one hand, the USA is exerting considerable pressure to ensure that it does not pay Iran, and on the other hand, it is of the opinion that there is no real economic alternative to this flight route. The United States has even put the route in the carrier's window, saying that violating the sanctions could land them on the sanctions list themselves. This would then massively limit the possibilities in international air traffic, because it is to be expected that many countries will then refuse to cooperate with Biman Bangladesh in order to avoid conflict with the USA. According to the local newspaper "The Daily Star", the carrier based in Bangladesh already has problems with the US authorities. A member of the management admits that in the past they have already paid fees to Iran for the use of airspace. This is precisely why they are
