Czech travelers speculate on last-minute deals

Travel sales in the first four months of the year remain stable compared to last year, but this is not due to a lack of interest in travel. Data shows that many customers have decided to wait for last-minute deals that allow them to save up to 60% on summer holidays. This trend shows how the shopping behavior of Czech travelers is changing, waiting to get cheaper prices. The average cost of travel from January to April 2024 is around CZK 51.000, which is the same as last year. Travel agencies have significantly expanded their travel offer, which has doubled. This growth is supported by the expansion of dates, the range of departure airports and destinations, which indicates the dynamism of the market and the entry of new tour operators into the Czech market in the last two years. The most popular destinations continue to include Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Greece, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Italy, Cape Verde and Croatia, with Turkey overtaking Spain this year. The leading resorts are Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Alanya, Side, Dubai, Santa Maria in Cape Verde and Hammamet in Tunisia. There is a high demand for air travel in three to four-star hotels with all-inclusive meals, with particular interest in hotels with water parks and children's clubs. Martina Hrnčířová, Sales Manager at Student Agency Travel, comments: "One of the newest options are direct flights from Prague to Mexico, Bahrain and Cuba, and from Brno to Mauritius, which are planned for autumn this year." News also includes discounts for children. Travel agencies are continuously expanding their offer of

Bonza bankruptcy: Financial situation has probably been tense for some time

The receivers of insolvent Australian low-cost carrier Bonza will hold the first meeting of creditors in Sydney on May 10, 2024, as details emerge about the airline's turbulent state before its collapse on April 30, 2024. Law firm Hall Chadwick will hold the first meeting to inform the as yet unknown number of creditors and allow them, under the Australian Corporations Act, to decide whether to appoint an audit committee and/or remove the current administrators and replace them with new ones. Hall Chadwick also said its fees would be between A$250.000 and A$350.000 by the time of the meeting. Bonza was forced to cease operations after aircraft leasing manager AIP Capital removed flight operating manuals from the airline's four B29 Max 2024s on the evening of April 737, 8. Two aircraft were located at Sunshine Coast, one at Gold Coast Coolangatta and one at Melbourne Tullamarine. They have remained grounded at those locations since then. Additionally, a B737 Max 8 leased from Flair Airlines is located at Sunshine Coast. It has emerged that Bonza's directors defaulted on demands for payment on 17 April 2024 and there are reports that the airline stopped paying its bills, including aircraft lease payments, in February 2024. Bonza continued to sell tickets until the time the aircraft were seized, raising questions about acting in insolvency, which exposes the directors to civil and criminal liability, including jail time. In the same week that Bonza went bust,

Jankovec criticizes Letta report: “A missed opportunity for aviation”

The high-level report on the future of the EU's single market, prepared by former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta and presented last month, aims to provide strategic guidance for the future of the EU, ahead of the start of the new 5-year political cycle with the upcoming European Parliament elections and the appointment of a new European Commission. On 3 May, Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE, shared his perspective on the report. Titled "The Letta Report & Aviation: A Missed Opportunity", Jankovec's commentary supports the report's ambitions and many of its recommendations to deepen the EU's single market - but laments that the report only talks about "simplifying air transport" and leaves the sector's key challenges largely unaddressed. Jankovec raised significant concerns that the Letta Report addresses the challenge of decarbonising aviation solely through reforming air traffic management and connecting all European capitals through high-speed rail. In his contribution, Jankovec wrote: “The report says nothing about the key issue of producing and providing affordable sustainable aviation fuels across the airport network; nothing about how to support the development and deployment of zero-emission aircraft (…); nothing about the need to include aviation and airports in energy transition policies (…); and also nothing about how to finance the green transformation of aviation. The silence of the Letta report on all these issues is difficult to understand, as addressing them will be crucial to maintaining the socio-economic benefits of aviation and in particular cohesion. If anything, they show that the internal market really needs a transformation of EU aviation,

May holidays: Basel expects a high number of passengers

Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport is expected to experience significantly increased passenger volumes over the upcoming Ascension and Pentecost weekends. This may result in longer waiting times at checkpoints, both when leaving and entering the country. For this reason, arriving early, at least two hours before departure, is strongly recommended. It is recommended to check the entry requirements of the respective airline and destination country before departure to ensure a smooth journey. Online check-in can also save time if offered by the airline. Parking spaces are limited, so it is advisable to reserve parking spaces in advance or allow enough time for parking. Traveling by public transport is generally recommended. To minimize waiting times at the airport, passengers should have their documents ready for check-in and passport control. It is also advisable to find out in advance about compliance with security regulations regarding baggage to ensure a smooth security check. The expected increase in passenger volume represents a challenge that all partners on the airport platform must face. Nevertheless, every effort is being made to provide travelers with a pleasant passenger experience.
