In April 2024, Berlin Brandenburg Airport recorded a significant increase in passenger and cargo traffic. According to preliminary figures from the traffic report, around 2,15 million passengers were counted, an increase of 12,6 percent compared to the same period last year. The busiest day was April 26 with 86.578 passengers. Despite these increases, passenger volume is still well below the figures before the corona pandemic. The number of flight movements also increased at BER in April 2024. A total of 16.689 aircraft took off and landed, an increase of 14,1 percent compared to the same month last year. Nevertheless, this figure remains well below the 2019 figures, when Tegel and Schönefeld together recorded 24.584 takeoffs and landings. Another notable increase was recorded in cargo traffic. In April 2024, around 3.790 tons of air freight were loaded at BER, an increase of 55,8 percent compared to the previous year. Here, too, freight volumes are still well above pre-pandemic figures. Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, BER appears to be on the road to recovery, although figures have not yet reached pre-pandemic levels.
