New president for the German air association BDL: Jens Bischof takes the helm
The Federal Association of the German Aviation Industry (BDL) is getting a new president from the ranks of the Lufthansa Group. Jens Bischof, who currently serves as CEO of Eurowings, was unanimously elected as the new president by the association's members, the association announced in Berlin. The 58-year-old business economist succeeds Jost Lammers, head of Munich Airport. Bischof will take up his position on July 1, the BDL announced, and serve for a term of two years. Lammers praised Bischof's election and emphasized the current challenges facing the aviation industry, calling for billions of dollars in investments and a "level playing field" to secure the industry's profitability. The BDL, in turn, highlighted Lammers' work and recognized his commitment to the industry, especially in the period after the COVID-19 pandemic. The change at the top of the BDL takes place every two years. The ranks of previous presidents include names such as Klaus-Peter Siegloch, Dr. Stefan Schulte from the Fraport Executive Board, Prof. Klaus-Dieter Scheurle from the DFS and Peter Gerber, former CEO of Lufthansa Cargo and Brussels Airlines, as well as Jost Lammers, who is currently also Chairman of the Management Board of Munich Airport.
