Spooky fun in the Family Park: Halloween starts early and offers a varied program

The Familypark in Austria has started its Halloween season particularly early this year. From October 18 to 20, 2024, visitors can look forward to an early Halloween event, which serves as a soft opening for the big horror party. The park management chose this step due to the limited number of event days in the 2024 season in order to give guests an early start to the Halloween season. The regular Halloween period in the park then starts on October 25 and runs until November 3. During the soft opening, the park offers a variety of activities designed to get both children and adults in the Halloween spirit. On the two days of the soft opening - Friday and Saturday - the park is open until 20 p.m. A colorful supporting program for children will be presented on the open-air stage, and the Haunted House "Nightmare Manor" has opened its doors. Visitors can look forward to spooky walking acts, spookily beautiful decorations and impressive lighting effects. The make-up witches, who can conjure up artistic motifs on guests' faces on request, will create an additional Halloween atmosphere. The main season of the Halloween event will start on October 25, 2024 and will feature an even more extensive program. The show tent will once again offer a top-class show program with international artists. Highlights include the children's show with the popular park mascot Filippo, who embarks on new adventures with his friends, and the evening show, which impresses with a mixture of acrobatics, singing and dancing at the highest level. This year, the comedy duo "Mustache Brothers" and award-winning trapeze acrobatics are particularly noteworthy. At the

Lufthansa lets traditional costume crews take off again

The largest folk festival in the world, the Munich Oktoberfest, attracts millions of visitors every year. But the Bavarian tradition is no longer just celebrated on the Munich festival grounds. The celebrations also take place high above the clouds - and for years with a special tradition: the Lufthansa traditional costume crew. For years it has been a tradition at Lufthansa that the flight attendants wear dirndls and traditional costumes instead of the classic uniforms during the Oktoberfest. The traditional costume, which was specially developed for the long-haul crew, comes from the Munich traditional costume specialist Angermaier and is made to measure. Bavarian coziness in the Lufthansa lounges Lufthansa is also not skimping on the ground and is bringing the Oktoberfest to the festively decorated lounges of Terminal 2 at Munich Airport. The starting signal is given, as on the Theresienwiese, with the famous tapping of the keg, accompanied by traditional Bavarian beers and a selection of hearty dishes that create a real Oktoberfest atmosphere. In the Business and Senator lounges, passengers can enjoy Munich potato soup, roast pork and steamed dumplings with vanilla sauce. The two First Class lounges also offer exclusive Bavarian specialties such as duck breast and sweet Oktoberfest delicacies. But that's not all: after a long day at the Oktoberfest or a strenuous flight, guests can refresh themselves with the so-called "After Oktoberfest Drinks", including a ginger shot that provides new energy. The celebrations do not end on the ground, however. Lufthansa also relies on typical Bavarian cuisine in its aircraft above the clouds. Various Bavarian specialties will be served on selected long-haul flights from Frankfurt and Munich until the end of September. The range extends

90 years ago: The historic first ascent of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road

On September 22, 1934, Austria made history when the then Governor of Salzburg, Franz Rehrl, became the first person to cross the impressive mountain range of the Hohe Tauern in an automobile. This event marked not only a milestone in the development of the high mountains, but also in the technical and tourist development of the country. The trip took place one year before the official opening of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and symbolized the triumph of technology over the natural barriers of the Alps. A political visionary and the birth of a panoramic road Franz Rehrl, who served as Governor of Salzburg from 1922 to 1938, was the driving force behind the construction of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. At a time when automobile traffic was still in its infancy, Rehrl recognized early on the tourist importance of a modern Alpine road. His vision was to give visitors to the city of Salzburg access to the untouched beauty of the Hohe Tauern and at the same time to open up the high mountains for tourism. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road was not only intended to be a technical masterpiece, but also to function as a harmonious combination of nature and culture. In addition to his political ambitions, Rehrl was also a passionate car enthusiast, which prompted him to tackle the daring project of making the unfinished road the first to be driven on. He was accompanied by Franz Wallack, the engineer and road planner who played a key role in overseeing the construction of the road. Despite great concerns, particularly since the Mittertörl tunnel was only a footpath cut into the rock at the time, work was carried out at full speed to make the road passable. Prestige project for Dollfuß

Lufthansa discontinues Frankfurt-Beijing connection

Lufthansa has made the decision to remove the flight connection between Frankfurt and Beijing from its flight schedule. The reason for this is the excessively long flight times and the strong competition from Chinese airlines, which are still allowed to fly via Russia, while European airlines have to accept detours. This has significantly reduced the margins in China traffic. Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr announced the discontinuation of the route to employees. The capacity of flights to China had already been reduced to 57 percent of the pre-crisis level. The route was most recently served with an Airbus A340-300, while the Munich-Beijing connection remains with the Airbus A350. Other European airlines, such as British Airways, have also suspended their connections to China.
