Angola's national airline, TAAG Angola Airlines, recently took delivery of its first Airbus A220, part of a historic order placed at the 2022 Farnborough Airshow. This aircraft marks a significant step in the airline's fleet modernization and showcases TAAG's new visual identity. The Airbus A220-300, registration D2-TAA, was leased from Air Lease Corporation and arrived from Mirabel, Canada. The new aircraft will help TAAG modernize its fleet and position itself for long-term growth. With a capacity of up to 149 passenger seats, including 125 in Economy Class and 12 in Business Class, the A220 offers wide seats and large windows that promise a pleasant flight experience. The aircraft's design features TAAG's new livery, which is heavily inspired by Angolan culture. Particularly noteworthy is the depiction of the PALANCA, the black antelope, as a national symbol, on the tail and winglets of the aircraft. This visual identity is intended to reflect the mood and culture of Angola. Strategic importance for TAAG With a range of up to 6.700 km, the A220 is ideally suited to the airline's intended expansion. TAAG plans to establish Luanda as a major hub for north-south and south-south flights. The decision to use the Airbus A220 instead of the Boeing 737 MAX 7 originally planned is seen as a strategic move that also supports the airline's sustainability goals. The A220 consumes up to 25% less fuel and causes correspondingly lower CO2 emissions per seat compared to older aircraft models. Airbus
