Sharjah-based low-cost airline Air Arabia has ambitious plans for the coming years. According to Managing Director Adel Abdullah Ali, the airline is expected to receive its first Airbus A2027-321NY(XLR) in 200. With this new aircraft type, Air Arabia aims to significantly expand its reach and start direct flights from its bases in Morocco and the Middle East to countries such as Russia and South Africa. This strategic decision could not only help the airline enter new markets but also increase its competitiveness in the highly competitive aviation market. Geographical expansion and strategic objectives Air Arabia has a clear growth strategy aimed at entering new markets. In an interview at the Routes World 2024 event in Bahrain, Ali explained that the new A321-XLR aircraft will enable the airline to fly not only within the Middle East, but also to Russia and even as far as South Africa. “In Morocco, we expect to enter the Middle East and further to Russia,” he explained. Ali also highlighted the untapped potential of Egypt as an important market that could be of interest to Air Arabia. The new aircraft type will enable Air Arabia to offer long-haul flights that were previously not possible due to the limitations of older models. Tus Airways under new majority ownership: Reorientation and expansion

The Cypriot airline Tus Airways, whose home airport is in Larnaca, is facing a significant change in its ownership structure. Ami Cohen and Arnon Englander, both owners of the Holiday Lines Group, have significantly increased their shares in Tus Airways by exercising a purchase option. They had already acquired 33,3% of the shares in the airline earlier this year and will jointly control 75% of the company after the completion of the current transaction. This transaction marks an important step for the future strategic direction of the airline, which is positioning itself in a highly competitive European aviation market. Acquisition and expansion: who is behind the deal? Cohen and Englander are no strangers to the aviation industry. They also own BlueBird Airways, a Greek airline based in Irakleion that specializes in charter flights. Their experience in operating airlines as well as their financial investments should put Tus Airways on course for further growth. Both investors have decided to reduce the share of the remaining owners Global Knafaim Leasing and Kenneth Woolley, a US entrepreneur with Cypriot citizenship. After the takeover, Global Knafaim and Woolley will each hold only 12,5% of the shares in the airline. The value of the transaction, which Global Knafaim Leasing stated in its documents as $2,1 million, shows that Cohen and Englander have great confidence in the potential of Tus Airways. With this acquisition, they consolidate their position as major shareholders and will have a significant influence on the airline's strategic decisions in the future. Tus Airways fleet and current activities Tus Airways currently operates

Investigations into Bonza Airlines: Money laundering and insolvency in the focus of the US authorities

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched an investigation into insolvent Australian airline Bonza, focusing on potential violations of US anti-money laundering laws. These legal actions shed light on the company's financial practices as well as the involvement of its backers, particularly Miami-based firm 777 Partners. The developments come at a time when Bonza, which only ceased flying in April 2024 after just 14 months of operation, is facing a complex insolvency. Background to the investigation The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) recently reported that the DOJ is specifically investigating whether funds from 777 Partners that were originally earmarked for the company's soccer teams went to Bonza instead. This transfer could violate anti-money laundering laws if it turns out that the funds were not used for their intended purpose. The DOJ's Southern District of New York office is leading the investigation, and the outcome of this review could have far-reaching consequences for all parties involved. 777 Partners had provided Bonza with around AUD 78 million (about USD 52,7 million) to finance the airline during the pre- and post-launch phases. However, the connection between the two companies has proved problematic, especially when 777 Partners' lessors demanded the return of their aircraft. This decision led to Bonza's closure in April 2024 after the airline had to rely on sporadic financing from 777 Partners. Bankruptcy and legal problems In addition to the DOJ investigation, Bonza is also being investigated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). This investigation aims to
