Nuremberg Airport: Passenger numbers exceed the 4 million mark

Nuremberg's Albrecht Dürer Airport is reporting a significant increase in passenger numbers for 2024. A total of 4,028 million travelers used the airport for vacation, business and city flights or to visit friends and relatives. This means that the airport has exceeded the 2019 million mark for the first time since 4. Compared to the previous year, this corresponds to an increase of 2,5 percent. Particularly noteworthy is the recovery rate of 96 percent compared to the 2019 figures, which is well above the national average of 83 percent. Rising demand for mobility in the metropolitan region Dr. Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Nuremberg Airport, attributes the success to the strong demand for mobility in the metropolitan region. "This great success speaks for the strong mobility demand of the people and the economy in the metropolitan region for an extensive range of flights directly from Nuremberg," said Hupe. The record utilization of the aircraft is also particularly noteworthy. With an average capacity occupancy of 83 percent, flights from Nuremberg are booked better than ever before. The most popular travel destinations in 2024 were Turkey, Spain and Greece. The most frequented destinations included Antalya, Mallorca and important hub airports such as Frankfurt, Istanbul and Amsterdam. These connections underline Nuremberg's role as an important gateway for both tourist and business travel. Important partner airlines and modern aircraft Most passengers were transported by Ryanair, followed by SunExpress, Corendon Airlines, Eurowings and Lufthansa. The high proportion of Ryanair shows the importance of low-cost carriers for the airport. At the same time, traditional airlines such as Lufthansa continue to have a firm place in the offer with their connections to hubs.
