Austrian Airlines resumes flights to Tel Aviv, Iran and Lebanon still excluded

Austrian Airlines will resume flights to and from Tel Aviv from February 1, 2025. This will be done after careful review of the current situation and in coordination with the Lufthansa Group. Israeli airspace will be used again from this point onwards, and Swiss will also start daily flights from Zurich to Tel Aviv from February. The flights to Tel Aviv will be operated with a short-haul aircraft from the Airbus A320 family. Initially, the flight is planned without a night stop for the crews. Wizz Air resumes flights to Tel Aviv – travel options for British tourists increase

On 15 January 2024, Wizz Air resumed its scheduled service from London Luton to Tel Aviv, marking another step towards normalising travel for British tourists. The resumption of service comes at a time when Israel is attracting large numbers of travellers with attractive events such as the Dead Sea Marathon and Tel Aviv Marathon in February and Tel Aviv PRIDE in June. In addition, the popular Passover and Easter holidays in April are another reason to visit Israel during this period. In addition to Wizz Air, EasyJet flights will also resume from March and British Airways flights from early April. In addition, Virgin Atlantic is currently accepting bookings, which will be handled through a code-sharing partnership with El-Al. These developments offer UK travellers a wider choice of flights and prices compared to last year, when travel options were severely limited. In 2024, a total of 79.000 UK tourists travelled to Israel, accounting for 42 per cent of 2023's visitor numbers. Particularly striking is the increase in the number of British tourists in December 2024, with 6.500 visitors, an increase of 63 percent compared to December of the previous year. This is despite continued restrictive travel advice from the British government and limited flight availability. Israel hopes that tourism will continue to recover in 2025, as more travelers can now count on the normalization of travel conditions with more confidence in their travel planning.

Boeing probably delivers last 777-300ER – successor delayed

In December 2024, Boeing may have delivered the last 777-300ER, according to reports from The Air Current. The aircraft, originally intended for China Southern Airlines, made its maiden flight on January 21, 2020. That was also the day the first positive corona case was reported in the United States, leading to a difficult production environment for Boeing. A year after the first flight, Boeing stopped production of the model. The aircraft was originally scheduled to be delivered to China Southern Airlines, but it instead went to lessor Altavair, which handed it over to Ethiopian Airlines. This move underscores the changes in Boeing's supply chain and order situation. The company had actually hoped to already deliver the successor to the 777-300ER, the 777X. But the 777X program is suffering from significant delays, and delivery of the first 777-9 is now not expected until 2026 at the earliest. The cargo version, the 777-8, is also not expected to be launched until 2028. However, Boeing plans to begin test flights of the 777X soon. Media reports suggest that these flights will take place shortly, although the company has not yet officially confirmed this. The delays in the 777X program, particularly the challenges with certification, have significantly delayed the launch of the new model.

In the high season, from April 30 to October 1, the route will even be served three times a week. According to the current state of affairs, Private Wings will take over operational implementation. The new virtual airline will take over the business model of Rhein-Neckar Air, which had to file for bankruptcy at the beginning of November 2024. Air France presents its own room fragrance "AF001" for the first time

Since January 15, 2025, Air France has been launching its first signature room fragrance "AF001". This fragrance was developed by the renowned master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, who is world-famous for his creations. The fragrance will be introduced in selected lounges at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport to offer travelers a special sensory experience. In particular, in the lounges of Terminals 2E, 2F, 2G and in the La Première suites, guests can experience the calming and fresh fragrance composition. "AF001" exudes a blend of musk, mimosa and floral notes of jasmine and rose, reminiscent of sunny days in the South of France. The choice of the name "AF001" is a reference to the legendary Concorde flights between Paris and New York and symbolizes the first journey of every passenger. According to Kurkdjian, it was the idea of a ray of sunshine on the wings of an airplane that inspired him to create this special fragrance. The room fragrance is part of Air France's efforts to enrich the travel experience of passengers not only visually and acoustically, but also olfactorily. The fragrance "AF001" is not only presented as a trademark of the company, but is also another example of the excellence of French craftsmanship. With this fragrance creation, Air France wants to honor the "French art of living" on a global level and intensify the travel experience on all levels. A gradual introduction of the fragrance in other lounges around the world is planned.
