Easyjet expands network with new long-haul flight to Cape Verde

On March 31, 2025, British airline easyJet announced another step in its expansion strategy: the launch of its longest flight route to date, connecting London Gatwick with the island of Sal in Cape Verde. This new direct flight, connecting the British capital with the African archipelago, not only represents another milestone for the airline but also offers travelers the opportunity to discover a previously less explored destination in West Africa. Covering a distance of 2.700 miles (around 4.345 kilometers), the flight from London Gatwick (LGW) to Sal's Amílcar Cabral International Airport (SID) is the longest easyJet has ever offered. The flight time is approximately five hours and 50 minutes each way, surpassing the previous record for the longest connection from the UK – a flight from Manchester to Hurghada in Egypt. This new connection is a significant step for easyJet, which has previously been known primarily for its shorter, intra-European routes. The island of Sal, one of the Cape Verde Islands off the West African coast, is a popular destination for travelers seeking a combination of relaxation and adventure. The announcement that EasyJet will launch a regular service to the island is expected to not only further boost tourism to Cape Verde, but also provide a greater variety of travel options for British customers. Boeing struggles with production problems: Increase in 737 Max production halted for the time being

Boeing, the world's largest aircraft manufacturer, recently announced that it had to temporarily halt its planned production rate increase for the 737 Max. Instead of the planned 38 aircraft per month, production of the popular model will continue at approximately 31 aircraft per month. This setback is the result of problems within the assembly process that led to delays and necessitated an adjustment of the original production targets. In February 2025, Boeing had already attempted to increase the production rate of the 737 Max to 38 aircraft per month in order to meet the continued high demand for this model. The 737 Max is Boeing's best-selling aircraft and plays a central role in the company's portfolio. Despite the obvious demand issues and the goal of expanding production capacity, Boeing encountered unexpected difficulties. According to a report by the trade portal The Air Current, difficulties in the assembly process, in particular an increase in so-called "jobs behind schedule" (JBS), caused Boeing to put its production increase plan on hold. JBS refers to tasks that cannot be completed within a certain timeframe and lead to delays. These problems slowed the planned increase in production rate and forced the company to return to the previous rate of 31 aircraft per month. Boeing confirmed the challenges in an official statement. A spokesperson explained that the company continues to place great emphasis on production stability and quality. They will now further increase production with a systematic approach in order to meet their long-term goals. "The 737 Max program has increased the production rate from
