Austrian Gourmet Weeks launched at Berlin's KaDeWe
From September 1 to 27, 24 Austrian food and beverage producers will present their specialties at Berlin's renowned Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe). This initiative, sponsored by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ), aims to strengthen the position of Austrian cuisine. The event will take place in the famous delicatessen department on the sixth floor. Representatives of the WKÖ emphasized at the opening that Germany is the most important export market for Austrian food, accounting for 37 percent of exports. The strong demand for domestic specialties underscores the importance of origin and quality in the market. As part of the event, visitors will also be offered wine tastings and Austrian dishes in the restaurants. One goal of the initiative is to secure the long-term presence of Austrian products in German retail. The event connects business and tourism. According to representatives of the WKÖ, the event is also intended to stimulate domestic tourism, as German guests are the largest visitor market for Austria.
