The Spanish airline Albastar has applied for financial support of 25 million euros from the state fund Sepi. This sum is needed to stabilize the company's liquidity, reports the daily El Economista.
The carrier, based at Palma de Mallorca Airport, was only able to transport 3.000 passengers to / from Spain in the previous year. Before the crisis, there were 158.000 travelers. Albastar is majority owned by Italian investors and operates five Boeing 737-800s and one B737-400.
So far in Spain the airlines Air Nostrum, Plus Ultra, Wamos Air, Iberojet (formerly Evelop) and Air Europa have applied for state aid for the Sepi Fund or have already received some. This would place Albastar in a number of airlines that have been stabilized by Sepi.
