April 2024: Frankfurt with 5,1 million passengers

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed around 2024 million passengers in April 5,1, an increase of around 5,6 percent compared to the previous year. Despite this increase, FRA passenger numbers in the reporting month were still approximately 15,6 percent below the April 2019 level.

In addition to passenger growth, Frankfurt Airport also recorded a significant increase in cargo volume, which consists of air freight and air mail. This rose by 2024 percent to 10,7 tons in April 171.501. Aircraft movements also increased by 5,8 percent to 37.556 takeoffs and landings. Total maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) increased by 5,3 percent to around 2,3 million tons.

Most airports in the Fraport Group's international portfolio also recorded increasing passenger numbers in April 2024. Ljubljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia in particular recorded significant growth with an increase of 17,1 percent to 111.414 passengers. In contrast, the two Brazilian airports Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) recorded a combined decrease in traffic volume of 3,6 percent to 936.854 passengers. Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru welcomed about 1,9 million travelers in April, an increase of 19,4 percent compared to the previous year. The 14 regional airports in Greece operated by Fraport served a total of 1,6 million passengers, an increase of 0,9 percent compared to the previous year. The combined traffic volume at the two Bulgarian coastal airports Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) fell by 34,7 percent to 98.666 passengers. In contrast, Antalya Airport (AYT) on the Turkish Riviera continued to record strong growth in passenger numbers of 13,0 percent to around 2,4 million travelers. Overall, traffic at the Fraport Group's airports grew by 2024 percent in April 7,0 compared to the previous year, reaching around 12,2 million passengers.
