After a long break, another Zeppelin NT is being built in Friedrichshafen. The customer is Deutsche Zeppelin Reederei GmbH, which justifies the order with the fact that demand for tours is high.
The assembly is carried out by Zeppelin Luftschifftechnik GmbH, based in Friedrichshafen. The handover should take place by 2024 at the latest, because then the shipping company wants to offer tours with three Zeppelin NT.
They also want to expand in this segment and become active in charter in other regions or outside of Germany. At the moment, the airships operated by DZR mainly depart from Friedrichshafen, Frankfurt and Cologne.
The Zeppelin NT is not a rigid airship like those made by the still existing Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH many decades ago. The NTs have been in production since 1997, although they were only approved for the carriage of passengers in 2001. So far, six copies have been made, three of which have been delivered to the US partner Goodyear. Most recently, a new building left the hangar in Friedrichshafen in 2017.
